A platypus? Perry the Amigurumi Crochet Platypus!
Some fun facts about this project:
He is over a foot long! To figure out his proportions, I drew an overhead view of him on a big piece of paper and then laid the work over it occasionally to check the size.
He weighs about 3.5 pounds. This is partly just because he's so big, but also because he's weighted! Inside, he has 22 large glass beads each sewn into custom pockets that surround 2 large pockets of plastic bead filler.
If you tap his chest, right underneath the locket, you'll feel something. That's a 1.5 inch heart-shaped bead.
The locket itself was based on Perry's locket in Across the Second Dimension.
In a world where Doof and Perry know ASL…
A “short” animation project! (Short, because it’s two seconds long, but took me the better part of a week to make 😂). I took a clip of Perry from Milo Murphy’s Law to draw onto for this. Please excuse if any of the signs are a bit off grammatically or visually. I’m learning ASL and I’m nowhere near fluent in it. Perry using ASL is not my original idea. I’ve seen other artists use it first, and I adore it! This seemed like a great project to celebrate the revival of Phineas and Ferb, ASL practice, hand drawing, style mimicking, and animation practice!
[Video description: a short clip from Milo Murphy’s Law, featuring Doof and Milo, and then Perry the Platypus. Perry’s clip has been edited to make him sign “I’m going with him” in ASL.
Video transcript:
Milo: While you guys fix this, I’ll go home and get the clock!
Perry: *chatters*
Doof: He’s either saying, he’s going with you, or he regrets the impulsive mistakes of his youth. I’m not sure.
End description and transcript.]

Embroidered, functional blank notebook! The thread was custom-dyed as well. This was my first embroidery and bookbinding project when I decided to learn them during COVID.
