English Teachers' Perceptions About Multilingual English
Hello, I want to tell my experience during Multilingual English group project~ The photo above is the documentation from our interview with Mrs. N via Google Meet.
Other than Mrs. N, we also interviewed Ms. R & Mr. B about their perception on Multilingual English. Personally, I gain so much insights from the 3 interviews, at first I can't grasp the concept of what Multilingual English is. But, during the interview, the respondents explain their reasons clearly so I slowly understand that the use of multilingual English is inseparable from our daily life.
Like what Ms. R stated in her interview, "Multilingual English is when a person be able to use English with other languages at the same time." I already know the concept of code switching and code mixing, so I think when we do code mixing and switching, it's still a part of Multilingual English. As for the langages theirself, Ms. N stated that "Multilingual is not limited to only English and Indonesian, but when a person speak Indonesian and Sundanese, it's still count as Multilingualism." This also support the concept of Multilingualism in general.
The use of Multilingual English or Multilingualism in general is great to apply, like when we speak Indonesian and Sundanese at the same time, I think we can still communicate with other people and preserve our culture.
Though I have a little worry when making the power point to present in front of class, but my friends discussed about it in Group and we also read the article regarding the theme, it's a little bit complex, but we managed it to give our best explanations in class.
