Hello! How do effects that double damage interact with damage assignment? For example, if a 3/3 is blocked by two 2/2, and a furnace of Rath is on the battlefield, will both blockers die? or only one, because I must assign 3 damage to it (and 1 to the other) , and THAN damage is doubled?

Effects that double damage double the damage when it’s dealt, not when it’s assigned. This means that in the case of trample or multiple blockers, you’re going to have a lot of overkill going on.

In the situation you describe, you can assign 2 damage to the first blocker and 1 damage to the second blocker. When the damage is dealt, the first blocker will be dealt 4 damage and the second blocker will be dealt 2 damage. Both will die, as will your creature which is dealt 8 damage.

If a player attacks with a 3/3 and I block with a 3/3 and then a 1/1 in that order, the defending 1/1 will not die and the attacking player cannot choose to kill the 1/1 because blocking order, right? Thanks, my friends have been arguing this one lol

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s the controller of the attacking creature that’s being blocked who chooses the damage assignment order when there are multiple blockers. (Similarly, when a creature blocks multiple attacking creatures, the defending player chooses the damage assignment order for their blocker against the two attackers.)

When you block the 3/3 with your own 3/3 and 1/1, your opponent gets to choose if they want to first assign damage to your 3/3 or to your 1/1. This means that they choose which of the two creatures will die.

As for why it works this way and not the other way, imagine blocking that same attacking 3/3 with a 3/1 creature and a 0/5 creature. If you got to choose which of your blockers would be assigned damage first, then you would choose the 0/5 and thus be able to pick off your opponent’s attackers with no consequences. The defending player already has the advantage of being able to choose whether or not to block and which creatures to block with, so allowing the attacking player to choose the damage assignment order brings the scales more back into balance. (It also more closely mirrors the pre-M10 system of being able to assign damage as you wanted across all blockers.)

Just wondering let's say I attack and the opponent multi blocks does the attacking creature's power decrease with each creature blocked or does the full power hit each blocking creature?

The attacking creature divides its damage among the creatures blocking it. You choose an order in which to assign damage to the blocking creatures and have to assign lethal damage to the first blocker before you can deal damage to the second, etc.

For example, if your 6/6 is blocked by a 2/2, a 0/4, and a 4/2, you might choose to assign damage to the 4/2 first, then the 2/2, then the 0/4. In this case your creature could assign 2 damage to each of the blockers, or all 6 to the 4/2 or anything in between as long as each of the first two creatures is assigned at least 2 damage before you move to the next blocker. All this damage is dealt simultaneously, though, so your creature will only deal damage once and will still take 6 damage from its blockers.
