Jason had spent the next week laying low. He had stayed in the suburbs for a few days with a distant cousin before heading back into the city again once the fuss had died down and everybody had moved onto the next robbery. God, it was a dirty fucking city. But once he was back, he went to the meetup point and sure enough a big black bag of cash was soon on his shoulder again. With it, he finally had the peace of mind to check back into a decent hotel and finally concentrate on tracking down the woman he managed to become infatuated with in the three hours they had spent together.
Thankfully he had connections in the business he had kept in touch with. Normally it would’ve been for a job, but this time it was different. But nobody needed to know that as he was given the several bits of CCTV footage. And, call it fate or destiny, but she was staying not that far from his hotel. What was his play, though? Knock on her door? Ambush her as she left? Or throw caution to the wind and just turn up? On the one hand he didn’t want to be labelled a stalker or a creep, but on the other there was just something that he couldn’t put his finger on about the girl. He wanted to know more and he had enough regrets in his life to not do this.
And so he stood up from his laptop and threw caution to the wind as he drove to her apartment, managing to gain access upstairs by chatting up the receptionist. People could be so fickle. Once upstairs, it took him nothing to override the locks. To think technology would be more secure but he would have found more difficulty with three different manual locks instead. As he entered he could almost immediately tell it was hers, it smelled like the same perfume she wore before.
Hearing the shower go in the distance, he approached her bedroom, leaning on the wall as he didn’t want to intrude. Jason could’ve left, but he didn’t, so eager to see her again. And he had his fingers crossed she wouldn’t just sock him in the face and stab him in the guts.
At last she stepped out of the shower and a grin painted his face. With his arms crossed, he shrugged. “I’ve been in the business long enough to know how to override security systems, Darling.” He cocked his head, taking in her form. “You did say we should see each other again, and well, I had this Tuesday free, so...” He spoke nonchalantly, though his smile spoke otherwise. “I can always leave, come back another time if you’re busy.”
