i told my mummy that i'll get piercings when i go to college and her immediate response was "why wait till college? you can go ahead and do it now, chalo abhi krwa dete hain [translation: lets go, we can get them done now]" and i..............had not expected that. honestly. i'd expected something like "focus on your studies", or something along those lines and her response genuinely surprised me.
i asked her, "are you not going to tell me no?" and she responded with "why should i? log piercings sadiyo se krwa rhe hain. ismein hum kaun hote hain bolne waale?" [translation: people have been getting piercings for centuries. who am i to speak on it?] and i. feel so thankful.
