What if Hat Kid had an Older Sibling?

Hat kid’s older sibling, is a good few years older than their sister, in their early to mid teens.

They are playable, but Battle of the Birds has to be unlocked before you can switch to them.

They’re taller than Hat Kid, and have more health and stamina, but can’t double jump, or fit in smaller crawl spaces.

They’re also noisier, making stealth sections more difficult as they’re more easily detected.

They have unique dialogue with any of the npcs and examinables and Hat Kid’s diary will have unique writing for levels you play as them.

Headcanon # 15

The reason why Hat Kid uses time pieces as spaceship fuel rather than for time travel alone is because they can affect space just as much as they effect time, allowing distances that would normally be impossible to travel much shorter.

Mu dies during the final fight?

It’s well know that power corrupts, and that absolute power corrupts absolutely, especially when it comes to magic, but it’s not often discussed how someone handles that corruption.

Not everyone manages to handle it as well as Subcon’s residents do, and with the volatility of temporal magic, the risks increase exponentially.

Mustache Girl doesn’t realize the power she’s gained from the time pieces is burning her being from the inside out, until partway through her fight with Hat Kid, when she starts glitching uncontrollably across the arena.

This ramps quickly and Hat Kid, fearfully recognizing what’s happening, uses the last time piece she got before Mu stole the rest, to get everyone out of there and on her ship asap

For a few moments nothing seems to happen, though everyone is disorientated from the sudden trip, but then a blindingly bright light starts to shine from Mustache Girl’s castle, growing to encompass the entire planet and it’s moon.

When the light finally dies down, and everyone aboard looks to see what happened they find nothing. No planet or moon or anything, just a void where it used to be.

Hat Kid somberly explains what happened, how that amount of temporal magic, outside of containment created a sort of temporal black hole, wiping their planet from time itself. The only thing that kept them safe is the temporal shielding her ship has.

Headcanons for working with DJ Grooves or the Conductor?

DJ Grooves

You’ve never been too fond of the Conductor, favoring the artistic movies made by DJ Grooves, so when you had the opportunity to actually work with the penguin, you excitedly jumped to the chance.

You will admit there’s stars in your eyes when you meet DJ Grooves, and he’s so kind and caring to you and the rest of the crew that you can’t help but 

When he’s using the moon sets, you and the rest of the cast and crew live near them in trailers.

Transitioning between the moon and the planet is hard, but you’re having fun with the moon penguins, and you love helping make movies, so it’s well worth it to you.

The Conductor

You’d admit, all you wanted was to get out and travel, but when the train part of your trip turned into a sudden adventure movie, you couldn’t help but get drawn into the madness.

The Conductor was simultaneously what you expected and not, but he seemed happy to have a-(willing)-nother member to his crew.

The express owls warm up to you quickly,  and during off hours it’s not unusual to see you sitting with them and sharing crazy stories 

It’s certainly not what you planned, but you’re having fun with the express owls, and you love helping make movies, so it’s well worth it to you.

Headcanon for being one of snatchers minions/newest henchmen?

You were living in the village when a sudden winter swept through, the magic ice encasing everything too quick to react.

Next thing you remember, you’re waking up in a frozen wasteland. Though you stay where you are, eventually curiosity lures you out and you wander towards the forest.

Eventually you come across a large shadow of a ghost, and though you startle, you can’t help but feel drawn to them.

He makes you an offer, stay as this limbless, speechless specter you’ve become or serve him and he’ll give you a form of your own.

You don’t regret signing that contract, even now, decades later. Though your soul was bound to Snatcher, he was anything but cruel to you or the other minions. After all, you knew he didn’t bind you all for power, but as a way to give you a second chance.

AU Where Hat Kid came before the prince died.

Hat Kid makes her way to a mostly frozen Subcon, empty and eerily still.

The only guide she has in this winter land is her hat, which leads her to a snow covered manor.

Every entrance save for the top window is sealed shut from the ice, and her hat just keeps pointing at the manor, so she slips inside.

Basically has to  do Vanessa’s Manor, but in reverse.

The time piece is in the basement, but before Hat Kid grabs it she notices the shuddering form on the cellar wall.

She gets him down, grabs the timepiece and brings him up to the ship.

She goes back down as Cooking Cat helps get him back to okay, and the rest of Subcon involves sneak heavy missions as Vanessa’s left the manor in search for her prince.

The Prince does heal up, but the ends of his arms and legs are shadowy, as is his hair and his eyes are golden due to the near death and overexposure to magic.

He ends up staying on the ship with Hat Kid, not wanting to go back to Subcon

cooking cat tries to befriend some of the subconites and they end up getting kinda attached, helping her not to get hurt while in the forest. what does snatcher think of this? what could be their [subconites, cc and snatcher] interactions like?

Cooking Cat’s certainly not disused to mischief makers, familiar with Mustache Girl’s level of trouble, but the Subconites still manage to surprise them when they go to Subcon for a rare ingredient.

When they hear why the cat’s there, the minions are all curious, as no one in Subcon can eat anymore, so cooking is as foreign a concept as any.

So they agree to help them, if in return Cooking Cat will teach them how to cook

Snatcher finds out about this agreement a few weeks in, and tries to just take the cat’s soul, but his minions all beg him not to, and he reluctantly acquiesces.

Doesn’t stop him from sating his own curiosity and sitting in on the lessons for himself, though he’d never admit that he actually enjoys them.

Ideas for more/alternate challenges in the final chapter (Time's End) other than the Mustache Girl boss?

Rather than have a straight fight to Mustache Girl, Hat kid actually has to go through the different chapters each contained in their own act in Times End.

Mafia Town looks much the same as it did in Heating Up Mafia Town, but the Mafia influences are gone, with all the Mafia locked up in the chamber beneath the Geyser. Hat Kid has to find key codes and save them to complete the Act.

Batter of the Birds looks somehow like a mix of all three areas with Lava thrown in to the mix. Hat Kid needs to move between parts of the train, the studio, and the moon set, all while needing to keep moving with the band of owls following her.

Whatever parts of Subcon Forest aren’t under Lava are completely frozen over, and Hat Kid needs to sneak through the frozen forest to find Snatcher, like a full forest version of Vanessa’s manor. None of Snatcher’s minions appear, but the Dwellers help with hiding Hat Kid.

Alpine Skyline looks like if the Lava Cake exploded over everything, and involves a chase sequence with Mustache Girl herself, as she plants and grows the Illness Spreads flowers across the mountainside to slow Hat Kid down.

After all these are done, then it’s the gauntlet to Mustache Girl and the time pieces.
