IN CHARACTER – DETAILS (OPTIONAL) Magnus was old. Too old, some would say. It made him cold, it made him critical, and it made him quick to anger where at one time he was quick to wit instead. It only made sense, he had been born among a flourishing cultural empire. His own hands helped shape a monument still visited to this day. Of course, his role in it was minor, but his dedication to his slice of history must have earned him favor somewhere. Whilst he lost his life when he fell from a height while undertaking the sculpting and painting of his small section of the amphitheater, something saw fit to grant him a power most exquisite. He found eternal life in the service of the arts. His first bond was quick, and he sought it himself to ensure his replacement finished his section of the amphitheater in a manner fitting his vision. Of course, Magnus Servus was not originally his name. He took it after his bonded-artist-turned-lover had reminded him in a quarrel that he lived to serve the artist, not the other way around. They lived a long happy life together despite the occasional quarrel, or as much as they could once his bonded artist grew old and passed. He tried to choose his potential bonds carefully, that is until the dark ages came. He hates the historians who try to call it anything other than that. It was a dark time for him, he had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to keep himself immortal. Luckily, people died early and often of natural causes so he didn’t have to spend too much time with the uneducated masses until it was over, thought he did spend a time alone which pushed his age to around 50. No longer the young man who he had been for such a long time. Over the years his ability to inspire increased, but at the cost of his patience, his empathy, and his humbleness. He’s quick to remind his artist that hes lived many lifetimes and that they have but one to use to create their masterpiece. While bonded, he is fiercely loyal to his artist, berating those who would criticize their efforts besides himself. While he hasn’t fallen for another artist since his first, he does not carry a torch for him in his heart. He finds that most artists and even most muses are not worth his time and effort to pursue romantically. His most recent previous artist was Bob Ross, famed painter. While he admired the minimalist effort in which Bob’s strokes of brush to canvas created such imagery, his happy carefree attitude towards mistakes nearly drove Magnus mad and would result in constant criticism towards Bob’s work. His current artist is an aging painter, her pretentiousness almost outshining Magnus’s own. She spends more time now drinking wine and making passes at Magnus than she does creating art which annoys him to no end. He longs for the day he can find another more motivated. While out in the world, most people immediately recognize that Magnus is different. Its his ability to be completely insufferable that they notice the most. He is always quick to tell the younger crowd that they will address him as sir, goddamnit, because hes their elder and has earned their respect.
