Questions for Muns of Canon Muses // @munchingmuff // accepting
Warning:lost post
What is the biggest headcanon deviation from the canon material that you have incorporated into the way you write your muse? Why did you come up with it?
I come withtwo different assumptions linked between each other.
I wanted toexplore the emotional struggle of the Doctor concerning his loss, and how much it can impact him, changed him — and I was deadly curiousto get onscreen all the off-screen consequences of the lost of companions /guilt upon past actions / how really the Doctor move on. The Fifth Doctor hadbeing canonically damaged by the death of Adric, who haunted him periodically (SpareParts, The Emerald Tiger) until the end ofhis life.
My firstpostulate is ‘What if the Doctor can find ways to make a loss like Adric notpossible?’. Yeah, that though that possibility I came up with the mafia idea(which in largely linked to the second point, but that is another story) when, for the memory of Adric, the Doctor willget his noise into the humans affairs for settle down the problem at it source.Meaning, the only way he have to make sure to save people who hadn’t thenecessary to die for him….is to take full responsability of this possibility. It’s also aselfish choice.
There isalso another reason of this post postulate: give an off-screen explanation tothe light change of the Fifth Doctor between the season 19 and the season 20 and the season 21 when he isn’t definitelythe same man & have dealing with lot of mess. I didn’t want something youcan contradict what had being already established, I wanted explore it instead. That also mean theconsequences on the Fifth Doctor upon his two next selves: Sixth & Seventh;by give a explanation to the harsh reactions & wish to do good upon Six& the manipulative general who knows a lot about business with time and temporalchessboard with Seven (low-key also the romantic side of Eight).
This is thesubplot : how the Doctor had changed of this trauma?
Associatedto this, there have the biggest second postulate: what if the Doctor knew about his future, about his future loss, howwill be react?
With thesubplot linked to it: what if the Doctor received a temporal punch in the faceof the Waters of Mars in a personallevel, with bigger consequences?
I reallylove Waters of Mars. Really. I reallylove the exploration of the Doctor on it, put into his own limits, and turninto something he shouldn’t have who bring consequences later he can’t forget.I changed, into the timeline of this Doctor, Waters of Mars for the Rokkenjima event, taking the direction inthe most unexpected way for various reasons. The second reason of it is…Iwanted another point of view offering to the events of Rokkenjima, an exteriorPOV and possibly an inside POV. That is the start up of Fifth Doctor/Featherinewho knows the truth inside an exterior level & inside level of theTenth Doctor being here & who want change this fixed point.
Rokkenjimais the first one reason of Featherine, and the indirect reason of why Five puthimself into the mafia in the first place. It’s essential for my muse that this plot exist for made possible, logically ‘The Witch’; why choose this consideration especially. I play with various layers of reading for wanted also, even if left unexplored, the Meta-World who is exposed into the dreams of Five(when he repeat 1000 time Caves ofAndrozani for a exit or imagine a life without the death of Adric & lotof others things), the huge library he get into his huge personal bedroom(*cough* The City of Books *cough*) & all the various travels the Doctormade for finding his tenth incarnation and fall with others timeline Doctors(when the Doctor placed himself into the ‘yes I am your past self even if we aren’t from the same timeline’ offer another pov between Doctor). Also, why the Doctor becomes out oftime.
The Schrödinger’sCat Box.
The conceptI literately apply to my muse.
By knowinghis future, the Doctor want to avoid the futures tragedies as he can, knowinganyway he will end his life with a fixed point and end up Time Lord Victorious by a failure (which in the contrary ofthe endgame of Waters of Mars who end up with his victory) when I can explore apre-Seven indirectly; giving indirectly explanationswhy he react so coldly.
Because, the mafia part is also part of his future, when his tenth incarnation end upwith the Primavera’s Family from Rose GunsDays (-look up at her url-), find the idea of the use of the criminalunderground for save her japanese people from Rose wonderful but will be unable to save them of their tragedies. Idea pick up by Five, when he become the leader Ten isn’t, when he influence himself of this idea for overcomehis trauma and create Featherine easily for being indirectly accepted though this name with no one knowing it & end up with what he have now. Of course, mafia mean history so yeah; it’s the cruelest world from The Godfather who is portrayed.
After, whyparticularity 07th Expansion? The idea come up as I was reading Rose Guns Days, when the ‘ooooh what if the Doctor was here, what would be happen?’ disturb meduring a long while, working on it about one year before started this blog.Likewise for the Rokkenjima event, in which I had search, search so much abouteverything during years and wanted to explore more. It’s also take me a longwhile for came up with something could work easily into a Doctor Who plot. My divergence start with it: I wanted Rokkenjimabeing included, wondering what the Doctor could had being done with it, as Iwanted linked the two Visual Novels into the background of my Doctor.
Can the confession I wanted more onscreen of Five count?
What is the general opinion of your muse’s fandom about them? Do you agree with it?
For what Ihad see / read / admire from the duplicate of my muse, it’s quite…accurate? The Fifth Doctor is the Doctor who gives you the illusion he is a nice fellow, when in reality, physically he look likeone but have lot of flaws even so he try to doing his best for his companions, during his travels, for being a bit unlucky of that side. For what I had read, the portrayals are different, in character, with each particular depth, gives justice to him.
I do think it’s a muse well-accepted into the fandom? For have a reputation of ‘cool dad’ on Tumblr upon the parental figure he express? How easy he is to get along for be more human and relatable in many levels?
I don’tknow if this is still going around: I am aware, some years ago, the assumptionFive is the sweetest and nicer Doctor around was present (when I can assure youthat NO; lmao Six is far nicer thanFive and the level of asshole of Five is sometimes very high for doing itbehind your back).
I want tosay that the season 19 is a bit misleading since the happy beginning of thisDoctor, a bit confused, younger in behavior, very human with his companion asremain alien is different of how he evolve into a man harsher, damaged, full ofmistakes who deal with the harsh world? He isn’t a bad man, he isn’t at allgood man neither….he is just a Doctor doing his best. The fandom seems tohave see it…so I’m not in contradiction?
