The sun was out, but that didn't stop Gunther from shivering and adjusting his jacket. Lucas pushed ahead, running to the swing set. His smiles unconsciously and walks up to the swings, the metal cool to the touch. It's quiet outside besides the wind and birds chirping.

It's nice, he thinks. He doesn't go outside as often as he should. Gunther sits on the swing and pushes off the ground. When was the last time he played on a swing set? It must've been years. He rocks his body to gain momentum. The wind nips at his face and hands but the feeling of swinging is something he can't help but love. He laughs. Swinging makes him feel like a little kid again, when he and Wolfgang would play together, not on this swing set, but together and it's something he didn't quite realized he missed.

Lucas next to him is grinning and looking at the sky. Clouds roll by, pushed by the wind. It feels like autumn, brown and red leaves drift to the ground and collect in piles. He misses being a kid. Not in a way that he'd rather be a child again, but an aching feeling of nostalgia that sometimes overwhelms. He's not old of course, but being older isn't something that anyone can really prepare for.

They swing in silence for what could've been only a few minutes, or could've been an hour, but the sun starts sinking below the treeline and the air gets even colder. He drags his feet on the dirt, slowing him to a stop.

“Don’t you wanna swing more?” Lucas asks.

“It's getting dark. We should go inside. Plus dinner will probably be ready soon.” He can smell turkey cooking from inside.

Lucas slows his swinging to a stop and hugs Gunther. “Happy Harvestfest,” he says.

“Happy Harvestfest.”
