Munkustrap Dating game: Seaside Funfair with Mungojerrie

There are only so many places you can take Mungojerrie that he hasn't been banned from attending. But, well, Munkustrap wants to make up for taking some of the Jellicles out to the harbor last month. Without Jerrie.

So, the pair decided they'd spend the day at Brighton Pier!

What's a bit of fence-hopping for a pair of cute kitties? It's a free admission establishment, anyways.

Unfortunately, today Jerrie dressed for his lookbook, not for the practicality of a day on the pier.

So, Munk got a pair of sparkly accessories to carry around with them.

Aside from the shoes, most of the day goes alright! They spin each other half to sickness on the Cup 'n' Saucer, Jerrie "speeds" along the Fantasia track, deaf to the complaints of parents, and of course the two made sure to snag a ride on the carousel.

Yes, everything was going fine, until they go to the side shows. There, their luck failed them plenty times, and the sun was beginning to dip down. Munkustrap left Jerrie at the games to go and look for somewhere to get supper.

More than a touch high on adrenaline, and frustrated with the games that he was sure were rigged, Jerrie did the only sensible thing and...stole some prizes from various booths.

Now they've got the Gammon on their heels, but do you really think your human law enforcement are any match for these Jellicles?

Looks like they were. At least for Jerrie. But have no fear. As much of a goodie-two-shoes as Munkustrap may be, he's still a Ride-Or-Die tomcat, and no boyfriend gets left behind.

The details of the break-out cannot be fully disclosed for legal reasons, but they've got a good week in hiding to holiday by the sea! I expect fishing, cliff-diving, and (hopefully) the recovery of Jerrie's heels from the pier.

And Munkustrap has no intention of letting him out of his sight this time.

Munkustrap dating game: stay-at-home with Demeter

... This wasn't how it was meant to happen. She knew that.

She knew that all this last week or two he'd been working up to... it.

The sideways looks. The uncharacteristic blushes. Last month's not-so-discreet enquiries about what kinds of stones she liked on rings as if he thought he was tricking anybody at all.

But he was so cautious, always so very cautious and he never wanted to startled her, until -

- well, he got hit by a truck. Hauling a kitten out of traffic, of all things. Because of course he did.

And so today's carefully booked and planned event was cancelled, and instead he had painfully cooked for her - despite his cracked ribs - and made a tiny starlit picnic in her backyard.

Suddenly she was the protector. Suddenly, she knew what to do, and who to be, for him and for herself.

So before he could say anything...

... Demeter proposed first.

And she had never regretted any words less in all her life before.

Munkustrap dating game: fancy dinner date with Alonzo

... well. They tried. Unfortunately, they'd trusted Mungojerrie with making the booking. And he thought they needed to loosen up a little.

They got all dressed up, nice and fancy (ssssh they think they're dapper) for a good restaurant...

The conversation in the car on the way to the address he'd given them was stilted and formal. They both were very fond of each other, but somehow they couldn't quite relax around each other. The transition from friends to dating wasn't going well: Munkustrap used to be Alonzo's boss, and Alonzo idolised him, and Munkustrap was painfully aware that he couldn't get over the instinct to both protect him and make decisions for him.

So they went into the building - didn't look like a restaurant from the outside, but Mungojerrie had said that would be the case, and - suddenly they were ambushed by some enthuasistic people in flamboyant clothes who insisted they had to leave their phones and car keys in the safe and come on we're almost ready to start you need to find your costumes...

In short. Mungojerrie had tricked them into a pirate-themed LARP event. And there was nothing for it but to pull out some random clothes from the costume rack and... join in.

Alonzo is quietly dying on the inside. This is so humiliating. He doesn't feel slinky and tidy at all.

But somehow... somehow this brings out Munkustrap's inner theatre kid goof.

And Alonzo, after taking a while to warm up, is of course nothing if not dramatic himself...

Soon their competitive streak led to them taking charge of the wheel! Then they were leading their new crewmates in a staged sea-battle on the crew of the other ship!

By the end of the night they were unanimously voted Best Matelots by both crews, and they had had plenty of snuggles and kisses, and had also acquired a whole lot of new friends.

And they might just have to buy Mungojerrie a cake.

This was, most definitely, not what Munkustrap had in mind for his date with Macavity. But here they were, on all fours, pulling up floorboards in the old house to stash yet another dead body.

He should have known something was bound to go south when Macavity was running late. Apparently, he was popping into the bar with an old drinking buddy--

--When things got out of hand, challenges were made, and to make a long story short Macavity stumbled into their meeting place with a body to hide.

...Actually, maybe Munkustrap shouldn't be so surprised this keeps happening.

Oh! Looks like Macavity's got his board up and out

And how can you stay mad at that face?

...And besides, even if it wasn't the date they'd planned, the pair never seem more in sync than when they're spending a good few hours stretching their muscles, making holes in the ground, and thinking up alibis.

So yeah, it could have gone a lot worse, when you think about it.

Munkustrap dating game: picnic under the stars with Mistoffelees

A classic, romantic date idea. Stars, very appropriate for Mistoffelees. Nothing could go wrong.... right?

Mistoffelees gets cold easily, so he wraps up well.

Munkustrap is a bit nervous and worries he won't look cool enough, so he copies Mistoffelees and wears sunglasses too!

... oh dear. In the darkened park, neither of them can see very well. Mistoffelees falls in the pond and ends up soaking wet!

They have to scurry away to find shelter so that Munkustrap can groom him dry and snuggle him warm.

Mistoffelees apologises and thinks he ruined the date. Munkustrap tells him prettiest stars are the sparkles in his fur. It doesn't take them long to forget about the food. 👨🏻‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏿

Munkustrap dating game: painting the town red with Tugger

@skimblyshanks​ @madamtrashbat​ Why would you phrase it like that and give Tugger ideas?

Look, Tugger’s a ‘go big or go home’ kind of guy. He does the grand romantic gestures. And Munkustrap picked the last date, so this time Tugger’s feeling competitive.

So naturally, after an extravagant dinner where he hires some guy to come and serenade them at their table then complains he isn't doing it well enough, borrows the violin, and takes over singing Munkustrap's praises himself... what does he do?

He hires a helicopter, of course.

Look, he’s reading up on how to fly it!

Also he insists on their wearing pilot goggles. Munkustrap is not convinced these are up to workplace safety regulations. Tugger says it doesn’t matter because he looks cute. Munkustrap can’t argue with that.

well

.... he could if he were sober but he’s a very very easy drunk and he had two whole glasses of wine and now he’s in the mood to shout FUCK THE POLICE and fall on his boyfriend’s chest giggling.

They fly around for a while, look down on their town from above, violate many airspace rules they don’t know about, make out and manage to avoid crashing into anything, then Tugger reveals his secret weapon...

He stashed a lot of red paint in the belly of the helicopter and he flies it in a loveheart pattern over the bar where they met, splattering the paint as they go!

(He was originally intending to spell out TUGGER & MUNK 4 EVA ❤️❤️❤️🍆 but realised halfway through the first T that that would take more than the helicopter’s bulk in paint, and also people are already yelling at them, so he just goes with a slightly wonky loveheart.)

Anyway there’s an increasing number of flashing lights and sirens happening for some reason which hurt Tugger’s sensitive ears, so they fly away and land in their favourite park and ditch the helicopter and end up hiding in the bushes giggling and making out until Munkustrap abruptly falls asleep, drooling slightly on Tugger’s chest.

They both agree that a) it was a perfect date and b) Jellylorum must never know.
