I haven't posted much of Edward Smith's series of Female Ballet Variations (though they're all golden), partly because there's just so many! But this one I was hoping for, because I saw it myself... but didn't get my camera over there in time to catch more than a glimpse!

Look, Admetus acquired a pas de deux partner to lift him up, show him off... 😌

(The camera didn't really pick it up but he definitely turned away from Admetus with a fond smile, which is still present when he looks at Tugger. He'll let them have their fun. 😌)

JARROD DRAPER (usually Munk) COVERED DEUT TODAY IT WAS A VERY RARE AND UNLIKELY COVER AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL also Ed smith escalated his Female Ballet Variations in the curtain call to a pas de deux with the connivance of Joe Miller’s Munk lifting him and it was beautiful. He hinted that he might have had someone filming it which would be excellent because I was too busy applauding to get my phone out.

(Also Joe stage-doored for once so I got to tell him how much I loved his adorable beamy dancey Munk.)

Tim (Misto) skipped all the high-energy parts of the Misto track in Act I (gumbie tap and most of the ball - Xavier’s Carbuckety did a solo ballet boy track for the ball!) so I half expected Xavier to rematerialise in black and white for act ii but no, Tim was just saving his strength and returned to do a spectacular misto!

Ugh jarrod’s Munk is so beautiful and fun and warm, definitely now my favourite Aussie Deut.

Matinee curtain call because I didn’t film the evening. Other covers are Thalia Smith as Cass and Dominique Hamilton as Demeter, since Chaska and Olivia are still off. 😕
