Some notes on the cast:

Sarah Murr (Aragon) is from Townsville which I did not know was a real place name

Six is Mia Paris Scalise's (Boleyn) professional debut

Kadesa Honeyhill (Cleves) is Senegalese

Lorinda May Merrypor (Parr) is descended from the Kuungkari tribe and identifies as South Sea Islander (descendants of Pacific Islanders kidnapped to Australia), so she's our first aboriginal queen and third (fifth? not sure who counts or not) Pacific Islander queen

Angela Brischetto (Howard) is Filipino-Italian

Lauren Goetz is our second New Zealander queen!* She has also confirmed that she's wearing silver and not pewter

Melbourne Trip 2026

I maaay have gone to Melbourne for literally a little over 24 hours just to see the last two performances of Cats there (in Alonzo cosplay!) - I was completely sleep deprived, having had my Sydney accommodation the night before fall through and only getting about an hour's sleep on the flight on Saturday morning, but it was SO worth it to see the tribe again!

for both shows we had Joe!Munkustrap (who was SO GOOD! I feel he reads a bit younger and more naïve than Jarrodstrap, and he also low-key sounds like Michael Gruber!), Tod Strike!Gustopher (so so funny - I had to bite my hand to stop myself from laughing as his Bustopher walk, also I love how much him and Lucylorum feel like father and daughter during Gus/Pekes and Pollicles), Amy Berresford!Demeter (gah, she was wonderful!!! I adore her Deme so much) and Thalia!Cassandra (I feel like she was more interactive with the audience than Chaska, which was interesting (/pos)!)

the cast basically all remembered me by name at stage door Sat night, which was so lovely! I gave Tim my WereCats Misto and rambled about my Misto lore and some of the Misto and Tuggoffelees blocking/chorey, and he said he loved the concept so much 🥹

Rania didn't see me until during Misto in the night show, and he got so excited, he even hissed at Claudia for giving me attention lol! but he made sure we got pics at the stage door.

I also just happened to be sitting next to Guy's old dance teacher/near his mum and got to chat to both of them which was really special!

The History of Swingo, Part 15: The Aussies Redux

(21) Gabriella Boumford was a swing in the 2024-25 AUS/NZ tour and wore the teal alternate costume. She was the first to wear the teal pants variation in an Australian production. She was previously the Aragon/Cleves/Parr swing in the 6th Bliss cruise production.

Fun Fact: Gabriella is the second person (after Natalie Pilkington) to hit Swingo after originally debuting in a cruise production.

(22) Thalia Smith was a swing in the 2024-25 AUS/NZ tour and wears the orange alt costume. She’s the only swing in the cast that has not been involved in a previous production of Six. Thalia had previously performed in several touring productions as a swing or ensemble member, including Mamma Mia!, Frozen, and Beauty and the Beast.

Hey! I’m still wondering why Chiara gets wigs with silver tips/highlights while Gabriella doesn’t :(

I was really hoping we’d finally see a blue ponytail in a show, years after the test they did for Elizabeth Walker on the NCL Breakaway 1.0, which never made it to the stage.

But it looks like Gabriella is sticking with the blonde hairpiece (or maybe it’s her own hair—I’m not sure what she uses to play Howard).

Anyway, I still love what they’ve done with Chiara’s wigs; it’s so cool to see!

Two main differences:

- Chiara has a wig for most queens. Gabriella wears her own hair for most (including Howard), which necessarily limits the hair design options and any potential color dyeing etc.

- It’s also likely a stylistic choice. Teal highlights in blonde hair is generally going to read as a very different stylistic choice than silver in brunette hair. It’s likely that they feel highlights wouldn’t give off the right “vibe” or style for, say, Gabriella!Aragon but that silver does for Chiara!Aragon.

I’ll also note that Thalia has wigs for every queen so far, but because it’s a bright ginger wig orange highlights simply don’t work.
