Hope you enjoy! i hope it lives up too you're expectations. I may have spelt quaff wrong idk. And yesterday when I said ill upload tonight, I meant tomorrow evening😔. bon appétit!
y/n never interacted with the Maine group. She didn’t go into the “upside-down.” She hasn’t fought off a Demogorgon; all she knew from last year was that they had helped her brother before he died. Eddie had told her to trust them. But now he was gone, and the hellfire club was officially a satanist cult, well, deemed by the basketball team. She was alone.
The only thing she had going for her was a job as a mechanic. Which led her to the radio station on the edge of town. Her skills only brought her so far in the tech side of the station, but the van seemed to run into all sorts of problems.
She had been called in this morning to fix something minor in the booth, something they assured her was within her ability. The ride over was quiet, her hair slightly tousled and tangled from the wind. Her heartbeat was hard against her ribcage. The thought of being in the same room as Steve “the hair” Harrington scared the girl. It might be cliché. She liked the popular guy, so be it.
Despite her knowing the boy didn’t like her back. Every time their hands grazed, or he stood a little too close behind, gave her hope. She knew he liked Buckley. She is pretty, nice, funny, and not hated by the majority of the town. Heck, if she had to pick a girl, it would be Robin. And it would seem Steve had the same idea.
The way they interact didn’t go over the girls' heads. There are constant knowing looks in group conversations they way they flow so easily. The boy would take his eyes off Robin, and it pained the girl that they were the only people in Hawkins who hired her, so she had to be stuck with them for hours on end.

y/n sat in one of the chairs in the booth in the middle of the Wsqk. Her hands were working with wavering confidence. Her selective hearing wasn’t quite working today. Her ears pick up on the two chatting behind her. Their conversation started about the schedule, but it now moved to snide giggles and whispering voices. She could feel their eyes on the back of her head.
To her, they were definitely talking shit about her. They didn’t want her here she’s the town freak whose brother murdered a girl them killed himself. She almost feels guilty about her crush on Steve, the thought of him ever liking her back never crossed the girl's mind. It weighed down on her made her shy away from them both.

y/n headed for the door, her job done sufficiently she was now doomed to go back to a shitty trailer and make dinner for her and her uncle Maby even wallow in self-pity a bit if she was lucky. The sound of footsteps followed her out to her car. She turned to face Steve jogging to catch up with her. His hair is bouncing in a ridiculously perfect qwaff. His cheeks were red from the cold chill caused by the change in seasons. He stopped in front of the girl.
“y/n one sec not to hold you back you’ve probably got lots to do but um… I was wondering if I could…um, take you out. Obviously not today, but maybe on the weekend or something.” Steve scratched the back of his neck, a small smile covering his face. y/ns heart stopped. Her mouth fell open, and despite her body yelling at her mothing came out of her mouth. Till she looked through the window of the Wsqk caching a glimpse of a smirking robin. Her heart stomach dropped
“I can't believe you, Steve! Really!?” she raised he voice
Turning to open the door of her car. Steve's face morphed in confusion, his shook his head eyebrows creasing. He took a step forward.
“What?” something in his tone almost made the girl turn around almost convinced that the girl this was some twisted joke. That maybe he actually did want to take her out, but she couldn’t make herself believe it. She opens the car door, standing behind it, and she now faces Steve.
“Just leave me alone. Likely story, King Steve wants to go out with a Munson, ha-ha, you two are so funny.” She nodded her head to the window of the Wsqk where robin stand, making Steve turn and huff. As the boy turns the car door slams shut, and the girl drives off. Steve's posture slumps. He stands still contemplating his actions. What did he say wrong? Did he offend you? Did he make you uncomfortable? He stood outside with his eyes closed for a second before turning and walking back inside to be bombarded by questions from Robin.

When Y/n got a call this morning and she herd robins voice, she almost hung up, but with some convincing, she was on her way to the station. Robin said she wanted to talk. Y/n wasn’t sure if Steve was going to be there. She hoped he wouldn’t be.
Y/n and Robin sat next to each other on the sofas in the Wsqk Robins’ hands fiddled nervously, and one of her legs bounced up and down in a repetitive pattern. Y/n kept glancing at the girl with slight worry. What Robin wanted to talk about was causing her great stress. She might not particularly love the girl, but seeing someone in distress doesn’t please anyone. She reached out and put her hand over Robin's. The girl's gaze shot up to look at the girl to be met with one of worry. The way Robin looked at the girl made her realise this had nothing to do with Steve. Robin's eyes were filled with nothing but worry and panic.
“I know we don’t know each other particularly well, but I don’t want you to blame Steve. Ok, I just… It's me, not him, trust me.” Robin turns her hand over to hold y/ns. y/n frowns in confusion. She tries to keep eye contact with robin but the girl keeps glancing at the floor or the wall behind her.
“What is it robin. I want to tell anyone, trust me, I don’t have anyone to tell.” y/n laughed a bit causing a small smile to spread on Buckleys face. She shuffles more to face the girl.
“I um… im… It's hard to say.” Robin stutters. y/n tightens her grip on Robin's hand squeezing twice in a signal of support. Roin smiles at the girl and takes a deep breath.
“I like girls.” The room is silent. Robin quickly shies away, pulling her hand away from the hold, but is stopped when y/n grabs it back. Robin looks up to the girl to see her smiling back at her. y/n wraps her arms around robin pulling her into a hug. The girl tenses then relaxed into the hug, slowly bringing herself to hug back.
“Thank you for telling me,” Y/n whispers into Robin’s ear. Robin squeezed the girl twice in a way of reply. The girls sat on the sofa for more than ten minutes in a hug that both needed.
They broke apart at the sound of the door squeaking open. Steve stopped as he saw the girls through the tiny window on the door. He pivoted and walked back out toward his car, fumbling with keys in an attempt to escape. y/n ran out through the doors to catch up with the boy. It was all clicking now they weren't talking shit robin was helping Steve.
“Steve please stop.” The girl yelled from the front of the Wsqk. Steve turned to look at the girl, his eyebrows drawn in alarm, covering his face.
Robin told me… she… yes ill go out with you. Sorry, I was a dick. I just assumed that. Im sorry.” She walked slowly towards Steve her words not coming out steadily and overlapping each other. Steve stood frozen. His head is aching. He tucked his keys back into his pocket and walked towards you at the same speed.
“im sorry. I don’t know why I just assumed you would say yes; it's not like we have given you a good reason to believe I like you. You know it's hard to shake bad habits from school.” He chuckles slightly, making y/n grin. He stands in front of her, both stilling as he brings up his hands and takes hers in his.
“I like you, y/n, I really do. You're not weird, you’re not a freak. Your ravishing, endearing, your scarily loyal to Dustin event Tho he’s being an ass, but your brother told you to look after him, and you won’t let his word die.” Steve's eyes feel like they are going through her, seeing her at her core.
“Oh, using big words now?” The girl snots as she blinks away tears.
“Shut up.” He grins back. “You are truly a diamond in the rough. And any guy would be lucky to even look at you. And I’m hoping you'd let me be that.” y/n smiles up at Steve his expression alike of a puppy.
“Yes, Steve, I already said it earlier, I will go out with you.” She giggles a bit, he does too and brings the girl up to hug. She drapes her arms around his nek weaving her fingers through the hair at the back of his head. Steve's hands were wrapping around the girl's back, his thumbs stroking her sides.
“woooooo!” Robin busts through the door, hollering at the pair. “Took you long enough!”
Bella - I hope the coming-out scene wasn't too bad. I've never properly come out to someone so it was a little hard to write, but i hope you enjoyed ty for reading!
