Michelle DESERVES it.
In the early days of the competition, I honestly didn’t want her to win and genuinely hated her idea of rejoining. You can ask my friends, ‘coz they all know how much I constantly said, “Ayoko kay Makati.” Regardless of my hatred for her, I placed her in my Top 5 predictions kasi I can feel na lalaban siya. Pero originally, I was rooting for Bohol and Pampanga (Cavite at third, kaso she didn’t shine during finals).
Michelle also deserves the Best in Evening Gown Award. A lot of people are saying that some other candidate deserved that award, but I beg to differ. Yes, there were more elaborate, more sparkly, and more flashy gowns, but always remember that it’s the girl that’s being judged. Maraming tao kasi nagfofocus lang sa design ng gown, eh yung presentation naman ang jinu-judge talaga. Di naman to “Evening Gown Design Competition.”
When Michelle came out in that black Mark Bumgarner gown, I was wowed. As in. Like, it took my breath away haha. It was elegance and class. Very queenly. Sabi ko, “Shit, ang lakas ng laban nito against kay Pauline. Deliks na yung bet ko.”
On Top 5… 1st Round I think maganda ang sagot ni Pampanga and Zambales, so-so kay Pau and Michelle. 2nd Round goes to Bohol and Makati. I think Baguio was forgettable in both her answers. Zambales was just spewing rehashed words nung 2nd round.
So at the end, I was hoping for Makati, Bohol or Pampanga. Any of them could win and I won’t even complain. Eh three titles din naman, so… sa kanila na lang yung titles.
Then… ayun nga yung results. I thought Pampanga deserves a title, instead of being 2nd Runner-up. (Although rumors say na baka sumali sya ulit next year). Zambales deserves 1st Runner-up, pero she should join Miss Grand Philippines kasi mas suited sya dun (Cebu Province din, parang mas bagay dun). And then… ayun. I’m happy that Pauline will still get a chance to represent the country in an international pageant.
In the end, MUPH 2023 finals night is like… Michelle Dee trying to prove her detractors wrong, like how she proved me wrong, and showing everyone that she is capable of representing the Philippines again.
