mac bangs the waitress is probably one of my favourite sunny eps… its the first real gay mac episode and it shows >:) the main plot’s rlly not gay at all technically charden only think hes gay due to a misunderstanding but the charmacden love triangle sets the stage blurring the friendship/romance line

-> interesting thing about this is how the charmacden competition starts out as a “who is whose best friend” debate but the last competitive argument prior to the “we’re the three musketeers” resolution is charden arguing over whose thighs mac is attracted to so the ep starts with friendship jokingly framed in romantic terms and ending with an overt desire for homosexual attraction

-> kind of a similar thing w the tapes which start with 1) mac using project badass to peacock his masculinity seeking charden’s approval and then develop to 2) dennis’ sex tapes which he expects charmac to watch and wants approval of which is its own form of masculine peacocking but this time w overtly sexual tones which lends itself to homoeroticism and then the ep ends w 3) mac’s next project badass performance where he is blatantly performing for charden and the homoerotic nature of his performance is openly acknowledged.

sounds stupid and obvious but im like THE PARALLELS the way that sexuality isnt a deviancy from their best friendship (even if charden react to it that way in this ep) but is built into it in fact their friendship is what leads to the homosexuality…🤯🤯🤯

also kind of an understated subtle but significant gang sexually torturing people episode one with the waitress not only having to be a vehicle for mac and dennis’ proto-sexualities (in dennis’ case his pursuit of sex for performance; in mac’s case his pursuit of sex as a way of engaging w his friends) but also dealing w charlie’s usual harassment AND frankden’s noncon sex tapes. but i love seeing her drag mac through a bunch of bullshit and her probably first successfully transactional sex deal in the show
