Fuck it. Muppet High School AU ideas (Yes this is based on the abandoned (??) Muppet High project but like better because I'm hot like that)

- Crazy Harry isn't allowed to go to school anymore.

- Only this town is in a vaguely 50's time period. It's not the 1950's, they're just weird.

- Statler and Waldorf run the place where Fozzie works at (The Jim Henson Company made him a soda jerk????) They pay him far below minimum wage and he doesn't know.

- Kermit's the coolest frog in town because he's the ONLY frog in town (Except Robin.) This man couldn't handle a La Croix

- Piggy regularly gets her friends to jump Denise when she's leaving class. The only reason she hasn't been expelled is because her family regularly donates to the school.

- Gonzo's origin story is him ordering some bullshit like an orange soda float and Fozzie going "Hey, I'm gonna need a snowball for this freak", thus awakening something in Gonzo. This wasn't on purpose, Fozzie was just doing his job

- Animal doesn't play guitar, Janice just asks him to hold it for her while she's at cheer practice.

- Beaker is failing speech and debate because nobody can understand him.

- Rowlf is only on the football team so he can catch the ball. It's like a big game of fetch for him.

- The Electric Mayhem are constantly smoking weed in the 1st floor men's restroom. You cannot use that one.

- Rizzo is one of Fozzie's coworkers and he adamantly refuses to use the soda jerk codewords because he thinks it's dumb

- Scooter gets bullied for being gay despite the fact that everyone else is also queer

- Bunsen has started about 9 fires so far, and only 6 of them were in the school's science classroom.

- The Swedish Chef also works with Fozzie. He barely has a grasp on the English language and he's staying with Sam Eagle

- Sam is class president. One time, he almost beat up Floyd for sitting down during the Pledge of Allegiance

~ Okay! Kale the Frog and Kermin the Frog won the vote, so here's some explaining lol: ~

They're sort of frog OCs for my Muppets High AU where I fix some of the Muppets roles, and originally, I wanted them to be the resident freaks of the high school, being on all the math teams (even the girl's), cheering loudly, hamboning and rapping during basketball games, any freak shit that could fit into the Muppets universe, or at the least Disney version.

Now, I kind of imagine them being in a sort of scenario where they're childhood friends who are growing apart. And they're drastically different from each other. Kermin (The lime frog on the right) is the jokester of the two and usually doesn't take ANYTHING seriously. Kale (The turquiose frog on the left) is more serious and reserved, usually studying astrology and reading iconic vintage books (The Outsiders, Moby Dick, Treasure Island, etc.)

In the beginning of the series (I imgaine my Muppets High concept to be 2D animated, kind of like the old Muppets Babies series in the 80s), they're similar to their original, but Kale just usually lets Kermin do all the fun stuff and only joins in when Kermin really wants him to. They're not exactly friendly, but they get along... from what we see. As the series continues, we see more of their relationship, and how toxic Kermin actually is. At one point, Kale realizes he's kind of gay for Kermit, and Kermin takes this as an oppruntunity to make homophobic teasing jokes towards him, which Kale obviously doesn't like. Whenever Kale accomplishes something, even if it's something amazing, Kermin brushes it off as nothing and carries on like nothing happened, undermining Kale’s success. And Kermin actually calls Kale ar 1AM every night to tell him about a dream he just had, which Kale doesn't like. Why are they still friends, you ask? Kale has tried multiple times to split them apart, but Kermin always convinces him to take him back, and Kale usually feels like he has to stay with Kermin because he's the only person who would tolerate his studies about book characters or science or math.

This is when Kermit kind of comes in. Kale and Kermit share science-12 in Season 3 (Season 1: Grade 11, Semester 1, 1989. Season 2: Grade 11, Semester 2, 1990. Season 3: Grade 12, Semester 1, 1990. Season 4: Grade 12, Semester 2, 1991) and Kermit soon notices their interactions more, and during a Camping episode, Kale decides to finally leave Kermin (But then breaks down in front of Kermit after years of mental abuse after Kermin breaks him). But after that, Kale actually does end up leaving Kermin, and Kermin's really just like "Why are you leaving me, I've done nOtHiNg WrOnG". Kale still leaves him, though.

Anyways, if you listened to all of this, I'm genuinely surprised! Hope you have a nice day, you beautiful people!

And yes, muppet high was actually supposed to be an real animated television series, but then it Got cancelled- but they did made figures, plushies And mugs of them!

Many fanfic writers have created high school AUs of popular properties, but did you know that the Muppets almost got a canon one? Shortly before Jim Henson died, he and his company were working on a project called Muppet High, which would have featured the Muppets as high school students in a 1950s-esque setting. Although some of the roles presented here seem rather incongrous (Kermit as the Fonz? Gonzo as a nerd? Animal playing guitar?!) I still would've liked to see how it turned out. Then again, maybe we still can. It'd be a great way for Disney to honor Jim's memory.

I saw you were talking about Muppet AUs, and I have two!! They're not very interesting but I like them <:3c first is just a lame highschool one, but the other one is a Raggy Dolls crossover! I was going through a little nostalgia kick and realised how well some of the Muppets and their personalities would translate into dolls basically 😅

I don’t know anything about Raggy Dolls but tell me more anyway, especially how that would work as a muppet au!

More Muppet High AU Headcanons (or I guess just regular canon in my version of this)

- Aside from being the class president, Sam Eagle is also the hall monitor.

- Pepé is a foreign exchange student from Spain! Unlike his fellow foreign exchange student (Swedish Chef), he's almost fluent in English. He lives with Seymour for the time being, but his family is in the process of moving to America.

- Lew Zealand and Fozzie have an intense rivalry when it comes to the title of class clown.....if only Lew knew about said rivalry.

- Uncle Deadly, Pops, and Dr. Strangepork are all teachers (Theatre, uhhhh social studies probably???, and science respectively)

- Piggy is Uncle Deadly's favorite student. Maybe it's because of the gossip they share, maybe it's because Piggy's family is the reason that the theatre department hasn't lost all funding, or maybe it's Maybelline.

- Constantine is around, but he finds it very odd how everyone says he's from the USSR, considering it's been dissolved for decades.

- Beaker and Janice are both trans. Janice has been on estrogen since she was about 14, and is on the road to getting bottom surgery when she's 18. Meanwhile, Beaker is on Bunsen's "HRT" (It's definitely not legal) which has done everything but make his voice deeper.

- For the above point, I don't care that this place is vaguely in the 1950s, let them be trans damnit

- Whenever the main gang are up to some nonsense, there's a Little Shop of Horrors style Greek chorus narrating what's about to happen. It consists of the cheer team, and if one of the members of the cheer team is involved, their spot is replaced with Yolanda.

- Gonzo's affinity for poultry started at a very early age, and at this point he's got a huge crush on Camilla. If this was a cartoon, this would definitely be the plot of one of the episodes, especially since he's not yet the confident weirdo we know today.

- Dr. Teeth is still called Dr. Teeth in high school even though he's not a real doctor yet.

- Link Hogthrob is only passing any classes because he's a nepo baby and his family has ties with Dr. Strangepork.

- Scooter's uncle is the principal.

- Skeeter is the only girl on the football team, and one of 3 members that isn't a monster (Rowlf and Link are the other 2)

besides the (presumably) missing concept art and the piggy plush’s tag, i feel like there is one piece of the muppet high puzzle still unaccounted for when it comes to finding what the show may have been like; the pvc figures’ packaging.

i cannot, for the life of me, find a single picture or listing of these figures still in their packaging. i’m not even sure how these were distributed; the people on twitter who had these figures and commented on this picture consistently said that they had one of these figures as a kid, but could never figure out where it came from.

the fact that the set consists of (at the time) the main six muppets united by a single theme makes me think this could have been a box/gift set, but with the lack of any evidence concerning the packaging? it could’ve also been something like a bag, which would understandably be thrown away without much thought/desire to keep the figures unopened.

at the core of it all, i would like to see what little of this strange little piece of muppets history made it to shelves before disappearing from the franchise entirely; as i’ve said before, i highly doubt that’s gonna happen, but i’m probably gonna stay curious about this thing for a long time.
