“Muppet” as a species referring to the stylized puppets made by The Jim Henson Company (or arguably similar enough, such as Bear In The Big Blue House or other Henson productions like Labyrinth).

The Muppet puppets are so well designed and so expressive that even when I can see the performers controlling them and talking out loud in their voices it still feels like the Muppets are alive! They’re there! The humans don’t exist, they’re just weird bearded dudes standing next to the real talent; it is honestly the only thing I can unironicaly describe as magic.

Jim Henson and Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson and all the rest of this guys were geniuses, they took perhaps the oldest medium in entertainment, the puppet, and pioneered an industry! I have nothing but respect for Muppets and Muppetry as an art form.

So this is what happens when you discover there was a nail in that piece of timber you were cutting when the saw kicked back. I was lucky; it missed the ligaments so it could have been much worse. Maybe that's what the white glisteny bits inside were. Anyhoo it’s a nuisance because there was no way of stitching it, so now my hand is wrapped up like a mummy. That’ll slow me down tomorrow.
