I Painted Nga Vương-Sandoval in This street Art Time-Lapse Session
Muralblogging!
I took the paper pattern home and projected my design on it in my garage. Then I punched little holes in it with my pounce wheel.
3rd day on site today, with the help of Stephanie
I guess I should have expected that leaving a pretty much blank wall for a few days would result in it getting tagged. The garage people tried to help by painting over the tag with black exterior paint, which kind of sucks because now I have to go back in all of those places with my paynes grey background. It's hard to see in photos but the paynes grey is a lovely deep blue, versus the undimensional black color.
We put the pattern back up on the wall, and pounced blue chalk through the holes to transfer the design to the wall. We drew those lines on more permanently with purple POSCA markers. Then we painted in all the map lines in the background, and painted the neon letters white. We still had some time, so I started painting in the sides of the sign cabinets and getting the base color down on some of the faces of the sign cabinets.
I'll be on my own tomorrow for a short day, because I have a dentist appointment at 2:30 (yes, really). I'm hoping to get a base color down on all the signs so that we can start to have a sense of how colorful it will be.
Hopefully now that there's serious action, people will leave it alone.
The art lab is focusing on a mural that could be located in the Hospital. These photos are demonstrating the process of transferring an idea onto fabric and testing out different media. The final image on the fabric will then be sealed and bonded to the wall.
