KnB Valentines Day Challenge 2020 Day 1
Thank you so much to @vanilla-daydreams and @theuglycrybaby for doing this. I’m actually so excited to see the content that will be posted every day for the next week. So excited.
I’ll be posting pairings with x Reader since I don’t want to do any of the OTP ships dirty, I love them too much!
Anyway, so yes, Day 1 Prompt:
Chocolates/I don’t remember having these many hickeys, but I don’t mind.
Here’s a MuraxReader rendition with both prompts included! Hope you guys like it :)
It starts off as a tradition at first. It’s how you two became acquaintances. Then friends. Now, lovers.
He’d stepped on your foot, and being the giant that he was, it hurt. And because he was who he was, he’d offered you one of his snacks as a consolation. It happened to be your favourite, and all was forgiven instantly.
It was only a coincidence that you both happened to attend the same school. How you found out also happened to be pure coincidence, although you’re not sure how you ever went without noticing him with his height and long, purple hair.
The day you both met, you’d accidentally splashed him with a bucket of dirty water from classroom clean-up duty. How were you supposed to know a giant was napping under your classroom window?
That bright head of purple hair was the first thing you recognised immediately, and you’d apologised before running to your bag for a similar snack to offer him. It had been the new special flavour that had only been released a couple of days ago, and he looked starry-eyed at it before devouring it.
After that, you’d taken care not to pour the bucket out of the window, and you’d stick your head out to greet him every now and then. He would bring snacks. You would too. You’d join him sometimes when you finished early, and the both of you would pool your snack pile in the middle and rate your favourites before sharing them.
You used to hate the ones with seaweed, but he’d managed to bring you over to the dark side. And ever since you found out that he had a weakness for candy and sweet pastries, you’d saved up to buy him extra when you found out when his birthday is.
His smiles were rare, but his eyes would light up whenever you appeared, with or without snacks. On the days you were empty-handed, he’d have a pile of snacks waiting to show you.
If you really think about it, you’re not sure when you both start being friends, let alone something more. It happened around Christmas when you’d both made plans to eat at the all-you-can-eat buffet. He’d been talking about the dessert menu for weeks.
There was ice cream after, and you’d been so full you hadn’t been able to finish yours. Of course, Atsushi was going to finish it for you. But he’d wanted to try the taste first.
And he had.
It had been a flurry of snow and ice, and you’d been so busy making sure your hair wasn’t blown into your ice-cream that you really should’ve noticed the large shadow leaning closer.
He’d swooped in, lips warm and tasting like caramel, that it didn’t register to you what he’d done until he’d offered you a taste of his ice-cream as consolation.
Since then, it’s become your thing. Whenever you had your disagreements and he said something that crossed the line, there would be a snack taped to your desk the next morning at school. Or your mailbox. Or your front door.
But it wasn’t limited to disagreements.
The morning you woke up with bruises lining your jaw, and texted him a picture of you wearing a conspicuous scarf that went up to your chin, you’d found your favourite mochi set taped to your desk.
It was an odd system you two had. It was all strangely quantifiable. But you loved it, and you loved the man that came with it.
Although he never said as much, Atsushi did too.
It was your thing, and no one else could even guess at what it meant if they were asked about the mysterious appearing snacks on both your desks some mornings.
So, this morning, when Atsushi finds a box of chocolates on his desk, his first reaction is confusion. And that confuses his classmates as much as what he does next.
He opens the box and counts the chocolates. Then he smiles, and eats one before stuffing another and another into his mouth.
When Tatsuya shows up, and thank God he does, because no one else dares question the purple giant about his daily snacks, he asks the question everyone has on their minds.
“Morning, Atsushi. Are those chocolates from your girlfriend?”
Melted chocolate is smeared on the corner of his lips as Atsushi nods.
Tatsuya smiles. “They look good.”
“They are,” the purple-haired boy answers. “There’s even a lot. But I’m not sure why. I don’t remember having these many hickeys. But I don’t mind.”
A hush settles in the class as those around them hear his reply.
Tatsuya’s eyes widen, and there's a faint flush to his cheeks when he answers, “Um, Atsushi. I’m not sure if this is relevant, but it’s Valentine’s day today.”
There’s a moment of pause.
“Oh,” your boyfriend shrugs, before popping two more chocolates into his mouth. “Guess I’ll have to return the favour for accidentally saying that aloud.”
