         ‘ i wouldn’t, ’ he says. means ‘engage,’ and uses a nod of his head to direct attention to the subject. it’s not that he assumes she will, or would without his guidance; it’s the same well-meaning, patronization-free courtesy that’d come with a warning not to eat a dish recently out of the oven.

            shilah has a lot of people come to his house and go through;  with his job,  it was sometimes expected.  but he wished there could have been some warning before he wandered out of the bedroom and found a new person seated at the table.

          he’s not really impressed by mega stars beside their talent on the screen  --  it was the things they did and said off that really sold him.  still,  seeing someone with such a recognizable face in this tiny coffee shop was a little startling.  especially when she sat across from him. 

          “  --  i’m just going to say,  i’m probably not whoever you might be meeting here.  “
