did this "meme" because it was fun to do. also i wanted to show what kind of ship i like and don't like. btw 2Doc is a ship that make me very unconfforteble, even more than the noodle ships i hate because of how popular and like the 2Doc is. so if you like 2doc please don't talk to me about it.

It could just be that I’m on the wrong side of the fandom, and this might be a ‘my lobster is too buttery’ type of remark, but I don’t see nearly enough Gorillaz angst.

There’s bits and pieces, but for the most part I only see 2D fan service and silly little stuff. I’m a massive fan of the latter, just to be clear. Whenever I see any gorillaz fanart I giggle and kick my feet and shit. I don’t want to seem unappreciative of the surplus of wonderful content in this community. I’m just a sucker for angst, and I think there’s so much potential for more serious(ish?) art, if that makes sense

Obviously I’m gonna focus on Russ, because he’s my favorite and the coolest ever- ghosts are cool. Possession is such an interesting and versatile concept. There’s the whole brainrot trance era from cracker island, not to mention the body horror opportunities with the whole Plastic Beach mutation deal. Russell is so fuckin cool, And traumatized. A bunch of his friends died in front of him when he was a kid. There’s no way he doesn’t have PTSD. I am not a huge fan of romanticizing mental illness, I do however think he’d be a really complex character to work with. I should write more about him. He’s so cool.

2D…. He’s got the most angst, at least from what I’ve seen. I think he’s good in that department honestly.

Noodle. Ohhhh my girl. Child super soldier. Abused and mistreated. Badass as hell.

I feel like Murdoc is kind of an underutilized character, at least in the fandom. He’s kind of an awful guy, yeah, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have depth or complexity. He was abused as a kid, and grew into an abuser himself…. Generational trauma/cycles are so fascinating to me. The Mountain has so far been really interesting to watch, because Mudz clearly feels isolated from the group, which he seems to sort of understand. He’s kind of being eaten up by guilt and regret, while still performing as the same Murdoc. Mmm I hate him so much he’s so interesting.

I think this is mostly a sign that I myself need to make more gorillaz art. Hm.
