I have a question about "layered" control change effects. Say my opponent plays a Confiscation on a creature I control, and I play a Confiscation on the first Confiscation. Intuitively, I end up with control of the creature and both enchantments, because my Confiscation changes which player the first Confiscation grants control of the creature to. But what is the rules reason for that? Is this an example of a continuous effect dependency, or is it something different?

There’s no dependency here.

When the creature checks who controls it, it sees that Confiscate’s ability causes the aura’s controller to control it. 

So then the game checks who controls Confiscate and sees the other Confiscate giving you control of it. So this means that the first Confiscate’s control-change effect gives control of the creature to you.

If I cast Show and Tell, and I don't want to put a card onto the battlefield, do I have to reveal that information before my opponent chooses their card?

Yes. You have to indicate the card you choose or that you won’t be choosing a card before players after you in APNAP order make their choices.

Say it is my opponent's main phase. They say "Beginning of Combat?" Then I immediately respond with "I cast Cryptic Command to tap your creatures and draw a card." After I have finished casting Cryptic Command and it is on the stack, what step is the game in?

You’re probably still in their main phase since you didn’t agree to let them move to the beginning of combat step.

I had a question about Gustcloak Savior. If I have it and attack with a creature with Vigilance, the ability will trigger. I've seen some rulings that say that I can remove the creature from combat with the ability, even though I can't untap it. But 608.2d says that I can't choose an impossible option when resolving an ability, and it's impossible to untap an untapped creature. So am I really allowed to do that? Am I misinterpreting 608.2d?

“Untap that creature and remove it from combat” is the action you’re taking, so as long as you perform some part of that action, you can choose to perform the action and remove the creature from combat.
