Magician-related book rec: Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, if you haven't read it already
Ooh, I have read it. I was also thinking about re-reading Kavalier and Clay (not the only reason, but part of it). Actually, (strange for me, I know) I was thinking more along the lines of non-fiction.

Ooh, I had saved that article when he posted it, but forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder! I wish there had been some discussion about two major set pieces/plot points and their similarities to versions we've seen in recent Hollywood movies, and how much better and more elegantly they were handled here. But I did love the points about how he doesn't hold the viewers' hand with too much (or hardly any at all, really) exposition. One of the many things I love about Johnnie To.

The Ricky Jay doc was fun. No more having to look up YouTube clips. They're all in one place now
I want to watch it again already.
