im going to take a moment to talk about tumblr and my blog. i really like this blog, and i really enjoy running it (sorry i haven't been around as much, i have pneumonia), and hardly any of my original content has been marked "explicit," probably because it's mostly screenshots of text (even though most of my other blogs/content were flagged, especially the fan ones, even though they had little-to-no adult context, so yikes) so, in general, i plan to stay here unless im forced off otherwise. i might make a twitter in the future for this stuff, but ive never used twitter before, so idk about that (lmk what yall think).
now for something a little more serious, unfortunately.
i wanted to talk briefly about the child porn epidemic on tumblr. when i first started this blog, i never could have guessed that so many real pedophiles would attempt to interact with my blog and its content, and i cannot express how horrified and disgusted i was and still am. with every pedophilic blog that followed me or liked on of my posts, i reported, reported, reported, reported, reported to every website and official channel i knew to go through (each report and email with more than enough permlinks, usernames, post info, dates, times). and most, if not all, of those blogs were still up and running until tumblr was taken off the apple app store and they purged a good amount of pornographic content.
i am so disgusted with how tumblr's staff treated child porn reports. as a programmer, as a developer, as a person, i am overwhelmingly disappointed and saddened by how they managed this platform. it's one thing to have a product that you mismanage, fuck up a few times, but generally, it's not hurting anyone. it's another thing, though, to manage a product which has motherfucking child pornography on it and you don't do shit about it. child porn which "isn't in the industry database." does that mean it's new? because a lot of the pedophiliac blogs i saw uploaded a fuckton of "new" content.
my point is that the mismanagement tumblr suffers from isnt just hurting its userbase of well-meaning kids and adults with a sloppy and biased "algorithm," its a gross cover-up for something that should have absolutely been criminal.
