HGBF Gunpla Battle Custom LR-01 "Mrs. Loheng-Rinko" (Based on the LCAM-01XA "Archangel")
This kit is from a much earlier design philosophy of Girlpla. Despite being from 2018, this and the similar Mobile Doll May that I built last year are built with what feels like the precursor to the Figure Rise Standard and 30 Minutes Sisters building systems.
Again, like Mobile Doll May, Mrs. Loheng-Rinko is one of the weird "giant women" pseudo-mobile suits from Gundam Build Fighters/Divers/Re Rise, being an otherwise normal woman but described as being 1/144 mobile suit scale. This "suit" is a rather classic ship gijinka in the vein of Azur Lane, based on the LCAM-01XA "Archangel" from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, and dressed in a version of the officer uniform for the Earth Alliance (directly based on Murrue Ramius' uniform).
Mrs. Loheng-Rinko is customised and operated by Takeshi Iori, the father of Build Fighter's main character Sei Iori, and purportedly based on his wife (who the manual implies he abandoned for his international job. Nice work, man).
This kit is nicely designed, with a lot of poseability and even double-jointing that doesn't compromise the human look of the model. There's a high degree of detail in the hair and clothing, and the skirt is recreated with rubber pieces for flexibility. The articulation allows for plenty of poseability. There's even a replaceably back-skirt piece in hard plastic, to help the suit take a sitting position. The only issue I really had is with the shoulder joint, as the ball joint kept popping out.
This kit has some pretty terrible colour correction, however. The only colours of plastic are white, grey and black, with a few blue hair pieces, and the skin-coloured face pieces. The yellow dishes on the "ears" and the gold badge on the hat, as well as the grey/blue sections on the ship's plasma cannon bays, the blue and red details on the plasma cannons themselves, the dark grey on the ship engines, the light grey on the shin armour and shoes of the ship-mode armour, the small blue detail on the "cockpit"/"bridge" neck detail, and the red on the wing/skirt sections all need to be painted in. There are a few colour correction stickers, but I decided to try and put in the effort to paint everything (apart from the little Haro badge). The yellow colour correction stickers especially seemd very poor quality. You also need to either paint or use a sticker for the eyes, which I just painted and gloss coated to preserve depth. There's another sticker for the eyelashes, but with a little effort you can paint these as well. The eyebrows are thankfully recreated via colour separation.
As usual, I gave this a decent panel line using a grey panel liner, but I didn't end up lining the black sections on the tights and shoes, as these wouldn't really show up. I used the black panel liner to give a wash to the hair and the grey for the plastic skirt pieces, helping to define the wrinkles and hair sections a little better and add proper areas of shadow.
Given that I had to paint everything anyway, I added a few extra details. I painted some highlights on the nose and cheeks, and added a little blush with a q-tip. I also added some edge highlighting to her hair and the grey wrinkle details on the jacket, which I think came out super well and make the finished model look a lot higher quality.
You can display Mrs. Loheng-Rinko in either her MR (Murrue Ramius) "girl" mode, or attach sections modelled after the Archangel ship to transform her into AA (Archangel) "ship" mode.
AA mode is achieved by swapping out the shoe parts, clipping on extra thigh armor based on the catapault decks of the Archangel, and attaching a section that's a direct recreation of the Archangel's aft.
The kit includes a few optional weapon parts, as well as two open fist option hands to hold them (alongside the two open hand option parts). There are two scaled-up Plasma Valiant guns, based off the same plasma gun from the Archangel. These either tab-in to the plasma gun bay on the ship section, or can be held like a beam rifle, and have been modified from their SEED design to better resemble a handheld weapon.
There are two small Gottfried Mk.71 beam cannons that can be attached to each knee, as well as a Lohengrin positron battering gun located on the foot that can be exposed by swapping out the top part of each foot. Placing the model into a sitting position and folding out the wing/skirts helps it resemble the Archangel even more.
Overall, despite the large amount of painting required to achieve a good looking end result, the limited colour correction is a great base to practise model painting on. When posed up on the shelf, she looks really good, and she's somewhat inspired me to get back into proper minature painting. The concept of a ship gijinka lends itself to some really nice designs... I just wish Bandai would have designed any others.
Please reblog, it helps more people see my posts.

SEED FREEDOM // Japan Tour [ Part 1 ]
Has anyone else pointed out that besides Mu La Flaga being a Sleggar expy, Murrue also seems to be inspired by Mirai.
Both are composed and intelligent brunette women who hold important positions in their ship and do a pretty good job holding their crew together.
The Murrue and Mu relationship is like if Kenneth inexplicably survives from his canon demise and goes on to have a happy ending together with Mirai. And the romance has a somewhat better writing.
That time I drew ten Flay chibi ships last spring
