Have you ever crushed on someone you shouldn’t have - for Electra.

Electra is a very private person and, as such, there are very few people in this world with whom she would feel comfortable sharing this information. She has absolutely no intention of answering your question–but I ( the mun ) can confirm that she has in fact crushed on many people that she should not have.

Remus Lupin, for one. James Potter is another. Both of the Lestrange brothers. Oops. And, very briefly, Cecelia Holmes ( @consultingsister ). I am sure there are more, but I think I have already said too much!

“I’m sorry for just showing up like this, it’s just I-” Electra looked up at him and then quickly away, eyes darting back over her shoulder as if she was afraid that she’d been followed, afraid that they were being watched. “-I didn’t know where else to go. I wasn’t- wasn’t thinking. I just needed to- I needed to get out of there. Get away. I-” She was distracted, jumpy, unable to string more than a few words together without stuttering. “-Do you mind if I come in? Only- Only-” 

These were dangerous times they were living in--too dangerous, certainly, to be lingering out on the doorstep.

“Yes, text me,” Electra repeated, shooting him a smile that was as enigmatic as she was. She accepted his phone, entered her number into it, and handed it back. The party was still going full swing around them, but--although she wasn’t exactly a stranger to establishments such as this--it had been a long time since she’d had cause to enter one, and she was rather keen to get out this dingy club and just go home.

She slipped back into her coat. Tucked in her chair. But instead of turning towards the door, she took a step closer to Frankie. She leaned in until her painted lips were less than inch away from the shell of his ear and told him archly, “By all means, do with it what you wish. But if that’s the sort of thing you’re looking for ... Well-” A shrug. “Call me old fashioned, but I always think that’s much more fun done in person. Goodnight.”

“Our mother.” Electra corrected him automatically, leaning over to tap the ash from the end of her cigarette into the glass bowl that rested between them. “Have you ever thought, though, that your problem is you feel too much? Life is easier the second you realise that other people don’t matter. Personally, I try not to care about anybody but myself, Mother included - believe you me, Sirius, it’s much less painful that way.”

Electra smiled. She found Remus’s reluctance to touch her endearing amusing, the push and the pull of conflicting emotions rolling through his blood like waves on the tide. His fingers curled hesitantly around her hips, his lips brushed over her forehead, and yet she could tell that he was somewhere far away- feeling guilty, perhaps, for wanting what he should not have. She knew it was wrong too - hadn’t she just said as much? - but the thrill she got from touching his cheek, sliding her hands into his hair ... It was so good that it never occurred to her to feel guilty about it. Although sometimes she wondered, was it the secret that made her feel this way, rather than the boy she was sharing it with?

“I see I’m winning you around to my way of thinking,” she murmured, holding the back of his neck in the palm of one hand. Laughter lingered in the back of her throat, in the depths of her dark brown eyes. They were nose to nose, and she could feel his breath against her skin every time that his chest rose and fell. If she kissed him now, would he flinch? “As long as we don’t get caught, I don’t see that we’re doing any harm. Unless ...” She decided that she’d kiss him anyway, though she was careful to be gentle- Remus looked tired and pale and she was half-afraid that she’d break him with little more than the press of her lips to his. “Unless you’re not happy, Remus?” A slight hint of something (it wasn’t fear, it wasn’t even disappointment, it was just a breath away from being her usual tone) bled into her voice, but she tried to act as if she’d be unaffected, whatever his answer. “Unless the real reason that you’re going home is to avoid me for a couple of days?”

Electra smiled and sat up, shaking the crushed curls out of her face with a toss of her head and the swipe of a hand. “It’s okay, really, I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” She leant over the side of the bed and picked up her shirt. “I’ll go and leave you to your work. I understand what it’s like, not wanting to be distracted when you first start with something new. In fact, if you’re anything like me, you won’t want to be distracted now until you’re finished, or until you hit a block with it at the very least, so …” She swung her legs over the side and started to pull up her jeans.

“Like I said, I’ll go. Tonight was fun, but I don’t want to get in the way of your drawing.”

Electra leant back against the brick wall behind her and glanced up, also smiling. “And I’m really pleased for you, Remus,” she said, sounding totally sincere, and feeling it too. “I’m glad you found your place, found something that makes you happy.” It had been kind of touch and go for a while; married at twenty, divorced by twenty one, it had been a whirlwind of a year for the both of them, trying to finish off their bachelor’s degrees, whilst all the while preparing to move to different cities, at opposite ends of the country, to continue their education. They’d talked about making it work long distance, of course, but in the end had had to call it off. 

“It’s nice to see you again.” Looking at him, she felt a flutter in her stomach and her smile began to falter. She had to look away. The students he’d brought with him were wandering around the gardens outside the library, exploring. She swallowed and started to dig around in her pocket for her packet of cigarettes. “It’s nice to know that we made the right decision, you know?”

Electra raised her own glass in imitation of the gesture that he had just made, but it never quite made it as far as her lips. Despite this being her engagement party, she had not touched a single drop of champagne all evening, wanting to keep a clear head. What she hadn’t counted on, however, was the smell of Rodolphus’s cologne, which was much more potent than any alcohol she could have possibly consumed. Even just standing there beside him, her head was spinning, and it was crowded by recollections of their last rendezvous. 

“Oh, I’m sure I’ll manage somehow.” Her voice was impressively light, considering. The slight curve at each corner of her lips suggested that she might be laughing - at him, at his suggestion that she couldn’t handle his brother? What an absurd notion. But still, she laid her hand upon Rod’s arm and looked up at him from beneath her lashes, her eyes dark and wide and rapturous. “After all, you’ll be around to help me, won’t you? I mean, you’re not going to just abandon me the minute the wedding is over ... Are you?” 

Surely not.
