It all happens so fast. Viren is detained, he’s freed (and questioned) and Ezran and Corvus return. There’s so much happening, so many stories being told and Gren isn’t sure what to believe anymore. What to do anymore. Ezran is back but Callum isn’t. The elf girl isn’t actually dangerous - if anyone is dangerous here it’s Viren. Despite the confusion, he decides to follow Amaya’s order. He will find both princes. He will bring Callum home.
But first, he will leave Soren a letter. It would really be better if they could talk in person but he has no time to lose. He has a lot of distance to cover.
Dear Soren,
Corvus (the tracker) told me of your encounter with the dragon. I hope you’re alright. When we last talked we weren’t on the best of terms. I understand why you left me, I understand that your familial ties are stronger than our connection. I don’t agree with you did and I certainly didn’t like being your father’s prisoner but for what it’s worth, I’m glad you didn’t kill the princes.
Your father is sick Soren. He would interact with elf artifacts on a daily basis. He was obsessed with the mirror. Each day he looked older, more tired. He once commanded magic but now I fear it is magic that commands him. I know this isn’t easy - this is your father, after all. But you can’t trust him. He’s sick and not thinking clearly. Just think about it - what kind of man would ask you to kill your friends?
Admittedly, I don’t know your father well. However, if your father is anything like mine he will love you not because you always agree with him and did what he asked but because you stayed true to yourself. You are incredibly kind and compassionate, Soren. Don’t sacrifice that part of yourself just to get someone else’s approval - no matter who that someone is.
General Amaya ordered me to bring both princes home. Ezran has returned but Callum hasn’t. I’m determined to find him. I’m going after him, even if it means going into elf territory alone.
I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to say all of this in person. And I’m sorry you were forced to choose between me and your family. You never should have been put in such a difficult position. Take care of yourself and know that although your words and actions did hurt me, I could never hold it against you. I could never hate you, Soren.

He leaves the letter with Corvus, who passes it onto Soren upon his return. “I’m not sure what’s going on between you and Gren,” he informs Soren with a heavy frown, “but you should read this. All of it.”
