In the morning, Kai sighed as he looked at the sleeping Otaku and smiled as he tucked in his snoring cellmate some more. “Sorry buddy, I can do this on my own. You get some sleep.” Kai said as he dressed into his flight gear and snuck out of his room and snuck around the temple to go unseen as he got down to the stables to get his ride. “Hi Lefty, sorry it’s so early buddy but we got to go.” Kai said as he fed Lefty an apple in apology and then got his bag and saddles and was off to do his patrol…
As the wind whipped through his hair, Kai soared through the sky alongside Jinora, their airbending gliders slicing effortlessly through the air. They were on a routine patrol of the New Air Nation territories, ensuring peace and safety reigned over their lands.
Kai glanced over at Jinora, her serene expression illuminated by the soft glow of the setting sun. She was his closest friend, a fellow airbender whose wisdom and skill he admired greatly. Suddenly, a strange sensation washed over him, as if the very fabric of reality was being twisted around him.
"Jinora!" he cried out, his voice drowned out by the rushing wind as he realized he had to save her. Summoning up a gust of wind, he pushed her aside as he got pulled backwards by the unusual distortion and then turmoil consumed him.
In an instant, the world around him blurred and shifted, colors swirling together in a dizzying display. The sensation was nauseating, disorienting, like being caught in a whirlpool dragging him into the depths of the unknown.
When the chaos finally subsided, Kai found himself spiraling in the air, gasping for breath as the world spun around him. He struggled to make sense of his surroundings, his head pounding with confusion and disorientation.
Once he settled enough, he groaned and looked around for Jinora, but it seemed like he was alone. Realizing he needed help, he spotted a trail of exhaust rising into the air and flew off in that direction, approaching a Fire Nation ship for assistance. No problem, they were all friends now and then they could help him get word back to Air Temple Island.
Flying over the ship, Kai soon began to get alarmed as the sight of him seemed to provoke a panic and he realized the sailors on her decks were starting to aim weapons at him. What the? Kai thought as he jerked away in a hurry as he got fired on by buckshot, tearing holes in his glider’s wings and a few scrapes along his sides too. He got a little farther away before losing control and splashing down in the waters below, staying afloat only by resting on the wood of his glider.
Nearby, Hakoda watched with his son as the bright orange robed figure fell from the skies. “That looks like your friend son.” Sokka’s father said as he made the same mistake the Fire Nation ship did. After all, in this troubled era who else wore such robes and flew in the skies?
Kai smirked confidently as he walked in a store innocently, grabbing some quick food and then using his air manipulation quirk to lift some money as well and was out the door before the store owner started to give chase.
Unfortunately for him, the nimble teen was too slippery to catch and was getting away. “Sorry mister! Got to eat!” Kai said as he started drinking the juice box as he leapt over some obstacles, not seeing a certain #2 hero above…

Kai, the ever-curious and sometimes reckless Airbender soared gracefully through the skies of the Spirit World on his glider, the vibrant colors of the realm a blur beneath him. The young Airbender reveled in the freedom and beauty of the Spirit World, a place where the rules of nature and reality seemed to bend to the will of the spirits themselves.
His sense of wonder quickly turned to alarm when Kai felt a sudden, sharp pain in his side. He looked down and saw a vine with glowing thorns snaking up from the forest below, wrapping around his waist and pulling him down towards the ground. Try as he might, Kai was not strong enough to break free from the spirit plants attacking him as venom filled his veins and he was yanked down into the dense, pulsating undergrowth.
The impact with the ground knocked the wind out of him, and Kai struggled to free himself from the vine's grip. But the more he struggled, the tighter it seemed to hold. Thorns dug into Kai’s skin, and a burning sensation spread through his body. Kai tried to summon his bending to cut the vine, but his powers seemed to be sapped by the plant's strange energy.
Desperation clawed at him as Kai fought to stay conscious. Just when he thought he might succumb to the vine's grasp, a figure appeared above him. A spirit, ethereal and luminous, waved its hand, and the vine released its hold, retreating back into the forest. The spirit extended a hand to Kai, who gratefully accepted the help.
"You must be careful, young Airbender," the spirit said, its voice gentle but firm. "The Spirit World can be as dangerous as it is beautiful."
"Thank you," Kai managed to say, wincing as he stood. "I didn’t realize the plants could be so aggressive."
"The spirit plants are often protective of their territory," the spirit explained. "You must seek refuge and healing."
Kai nodded in agreement, his vision still blurring from the pain. "Is there a place nearby where I can rest?"
"There is an ancient temple not far from here," the spirit said. "Follow me."
With the spirit's guidance, Kai made his way through the dense forest, each step a struggle as the burning pain from the thorns persisted. After what felt like an eternity, they emerged into a clearing where an ancient temple stood, its stone walls covered in glowing moss and delicate flowers.
“Thank…you?” Kai said as he held his side and looked around, realizing that the spirit was gone. Crawling up the steps of the temple, Kai leaned against a pillar and opened his robes a bit as he began treating his injuries. Maybe exploring the Spirit World solo wasn’t such a good idea after all.
It were the middle of the day, Rumble were just going at it in his workshop laying his back against a wheel board as he were slides down underneath vehicle. He were looking for the source of the problem, loosening some screw and bolts there and there doing some dismantling and what not til he would grab hold of a mechanism. Rolling out of it he would lift up the thing with a grunt, carrying it over the table infront of til he would drop it down. He let out of a huff, dusting off his hands some as he looks down at himself "ah great..." his shirt were all messy from this black tar that stuck on him so he were gonna have to keep it off for the meantime while worked om the problem here.
Kai heard the noise and saw the spirit-man working as he knocked on the door. Harmonic Convergence had changed all sorts of things and it seemed a spirit had merged with this man to make something new. "Hi, pardon me sir...Kai from the Air Temple? We ordered some more parts and I was sent by Tenzin to pick them up if they are ready."
"And we can do limited edition cans too! Appa, Oogi, Lefty, Blueberry Spicehead, Twinkle Starchild, uh...maybe Juicy.... Need those credits, NAT won't rebuild itself."
Kai was older now, more mature. He even got to help teach every now and then, given how naturally he came to airbending, but he still had one weakness.
When Tenzin started to drone on about a lesson, the young teen started getting sleepier and sleepier, until like now, his green eyes fluttered closed and he started to drool a little bit as he dozed off, oblivious to his classmate’s attempts to warn him that Tenzin was starting to notice…
