He walked towards her, his footsteps echoing on the ground in a threatening manner. “What makes you say that?” he asked in a warning tone. “Out of all the things you could say to me, why say that?”

Taking Winterfell hadn’t been as hard as Ramsay had expected. Turning Theon into Reek hadn’t been as hard as he’d expected. Marrying Sansa and winning the battle against Stannis hadn’t been as hard as he’d expected. Even killing his father had been easy. But winning the Battle of the Bastards? That was another story.
Ramsay knew it was going to be difficult. He had to prepare himself for every possible outcome - there could be no surprises. Rickon Stark was his prisoner. The young boy was going to die whether Jon Snow took the bait or not. The battle was to commence in just less than a fortnight, and he needed a distraction. So, Ramsay made his way over to the nearest tavern and ordered himself some ale.
That’s when he saw Ember, a beautiful, nice-looking girl whom he’d never met before. His eyes narrowed. He knew many people in Winterfell, but he didn’t know the girl that sat beside him. He turned to face her. “What’s your name?” he asked, sipping from his ale.

Ramsay’s expression turned into a sadistic smirk at these words. He started to advance towards Theon like a tiger pursuing its prey. “That’s right,” Ramsay replied in a low voice, not stopping until he was a mere foot away from the other man. “Your place...” His hand suddenly shot out to grab Theon’s hair. He yanked on it, making the broken Greyjoy’s head fly backwards. “Is with me.” He let Theon go with a small chuckle. “Forever and always, you will be loyal to the Boltons, because that’s who you are. You are Reek, and you are mine.”

Ramsay’s tone is gentle and sweet, and it is lucky for him that he does not know Rhaenys, because if she knew him, she would suspect the truth. He is manipulating her, as he does with everybody. But it’s different for her. For her, it’s a long-term plan, not a short-term plan. All he has to do is earn her trust. He looks down at her and smiles. “My lady,” he greets her, bowing his head respectfully. “I am Ramsay of House Bolton. I believe I know who you are, but would you remind me once again?”

“Why are you sorry?” Ramsay asked, his icy, blue, cruel eyes boring into the younger man’s. “For complaining when I have treated you so kindly? Or for failing to look at me when I’m speaking? Or for being a complete burden to everyone around you, except for me?” The corners of his mouth upturned into a sadistic smile.
