becametheflames asked: "Daddy! Ice cream!" Four year old Alex exclaimed, holding onto her father's hand as they walked through the crowded carnival. "Cotton candy ice cream!" She shouted so excitedly, long brunette curls with a purple bow in her hair as she excitedly jumped up and down. She made hands to get picked up by her father so that she could see the ice cream cone being prepared. She was so adorably excited, and cuddled into her daddy's arms on that hot Georgia day. "Daddy gets a bite!" She shared, giggling.
With her little hand in his, Rick keeps her close in tow, the crowds of the carnival all around them. He swings her hand, laughing when he hears the exclamation. ❝ Alright, c’mon, c’mon, ❞ he swoops his bouncy daughter up into his arms, approaching the ice cream stand so that she can watch them prepare it. It’s not every day that he gets moments like this. There are moments he’s missed out on with the kids, given the unpredictability of his schedule, the long hours that he has no choice but to take. But, still, he’s desperate not to let his life as a cop get in the way of his kids. Alex deserves these moments, Carl too. He’ll always have time for them.
