Heh, museum work.
A few weeks ago, an ancient Egyptian bracelet from an Egyptian museum. The comments from many Westerners were incredibly condescending, things like “That’s why we keep your historical artifacts in our museums.”
It’s infuriating how the west stole and continue to steal history from other civilizations, then twist the narrative to blame the victims. They justify keeping what was stolen with arrogance, pretending they’re somehow “protecting” the very cultures they plundered. This arrogance filled European museums with stolen treasures.
Seeing the Louvre theft is almost amusing to me, not because I condone it, but because it perfectly ridicules that colonial arrogance. The act was stupid, yet it perfectly mirrored the hypocrisy of those who justify keeping stolen history.
