ᝰ.ᐟ — sarahs thick, bistre brows furrowed, her youthful emerald gaze falling past jareth-- settling instead on the reality that he had created for her. her lips pursed into a thin line as she surveyed her newfound surroundings, the corners of her plush lips tugging down in deep thought. while his emotions were unreadable hers were, by contrast, quite clear; she was evidently apprehensive. surely whatever she had asked for, she hadn't wanted it like this.
⠀⠀the two of them were standing secluded in what sarah could only assume was some sort of vaguely regal chamber, perhaps some sort of venue or great hall? the space was certainly large and elegant; the large mullioned windows and stone tiles lining the floors definitely made the space appear magnificent, but there were a few items and trinkets that felt out of place. there were even some things that the young woman felt were missing, despite being unable to put her finger on what those could be. sarah reasonably assumed that she could only chalk that up to her own shortcomings; after all, she never truly understood these types of settings-- she had only ever read about them through vague, centuries-old fairtytales, and jareth had likely conjured something based solely off of her own hazy perceptions of grand spaces such as these.
⠀⠀the young woman clutched the thick shantung of her white ballgown-- another unfamiliar addition from her fantasies-- and slowly tilted her trepidatious gaze back towards the goblin king.
⠀⠀" ...i never asked for this. " she stated tepidly, her voice low and even, unease hinting subtly in her quiet tone. truly, she didn't seem to remember much before this, but she was somehow certain that she had never asked jareth directly to fulfill any wish or desire of hers. her thick brows furrowed in restrained irritation at his next comment, gathering her gown in her slender digits as she turned to face the man fully.
⠀⠀" i didn't wish for this!-- i'm certain of it! " (she wasn't certain; after all, maybe this was subconsciously what she had wanted this whole time, but she hoped that the confidence in her voice gave jareth the impression that her conviction was as strong as she was pretending it was.) " ...i appreciate what you're trying to do, but i don't need your help, goblin king. i-i never have. "
