was looking for pie recipes online and just found out that “penny bun” is a porcini mushroom \o/. Totally pictured it as a tiny, sugar covered sweet bread. A bit shook tbh

sadfASGFDHF apparently i am just. very english lmao, the reference to penny buns in the fic is from an old childrens song/nursery rhyme type thing? The more common version goes “to market to market to buy a fat pig, home again home again jiggety-jig” which has a line about a *plum* bun but I used the very old original version

it’s not a sweet bread i don’t think it’s just a little bread bun they used to sell for a penny!! but i will be 100% honest i was also picturing a sweet bread because my brain crossed penny buns with hot cross buns (which?? I feel like since moving to the USA I haven’t really seen hot cross buns? is that not a thing or? granted the US also doesn’t have the big chocolate easter eggs unless you go seeking so ???????)

but YES jaskier complaining about wanting a penny bun at least and Geralt just getting up and leaving, and then coming back and hurling a mushroom at Jaskier while he sputters. 10/10 would absolutely happen!!
