Even though it happens later in life, it would still be best to keep della an amputee as she's one of the few good guy characters who's an amputee (the only other one I can think of is finn from adventure time). Plus she becomes an amputee before meeting penumbra in canon so you can still justify it by social timeline if not life timeline
You're right, that makes sense! We've updated her character so that she's still an amputee, now from a car accident that happened 10 years prior to when the au takes place, rather than a spaceship crash 10 years before she met Penny.
Thank you for helping me and @launchpads-tiddies amend this! I referenced athletic prosthetics so that she'd have something realistic to the situation, since obviously she isn't building a leg out of spaceship parts. I hope this is a good solution; let me know if anything else needs to be edited, because I want to handle this as best as I can!
