Hooray for finished socks. They have been languishing as WIPs for far too long and all it took was a little time to myself to pop the afterthought heels in. I know I should wash and block them but I'm being a rebel and I really want to wear them today. On the outside I will be a sensible and smartly attired scientist. THE SWEATER IS DONE. I weighed my remainder and realized I was going to lose yarn chicken. I couldn't face waiting for more yarn or unraveling the bottom to get a bit extra, so I went the "unexpected design feature" route and picked a contrast button band. There's some blocking to do and buttons to find and I'm tempted to put some patch pockets on. But after reknitting half of it and the whole project taking two months longer than I'd expected, I'm planning to just wear it in victory tomorrow. 🌈 🧥 Pattern: Sock Arms Cardigan by @tellybeanknits -- the pattern is great, my problems were all on me. 🧶 Yarn: kit from @muststashyarn . My renewed sense of hope and positive forward-moving energy has a newly finished pair of socks to wear! These are everything I wanted, and the color therapy I needed, while I was knitting them. Specs for my Fiber Friends ™ : Self striping yarn from Must Stash yarn in colorway “a very hobbit Christmas “. I fell in love with this colorway when first I saw it but it took until last summer to finally buy it. I love these socks. Short row toes and heels from Lara Neel’s Sock Architecture book. Added stitches and did the heels over 60% of total stitch count to create more depth. I could have done the turn two rows earlier, there’s plenty of room here! For the pattern, I had arbitrary rules for particular colors in the stripe series: twist on green, knit and purl on pink, etc. while I kept this essentially the same on both socks, there are enough variations on it to still play “what six things are different”. I love how the yarn comes divided into two matching hanks, so I can do toe-up and not have to worry about how much to leave for the other one. I get nice long socks in my size doing this, and no leftovers! Side note: If you’re wondering the purpose of skinny jeans, it’s to properly show off handknit socks!
