Once upon a time Grandmother Shitsumon discovered that children from a nearby neighborhood were trespassing and damaging her garden. Instead of putting up a fence she planted peach trees all around the perimeter of her lands and waited. While the children continued sneaking in, the pale pink flowers turned into fruits. It was at this point that they learned several valuable lessons about Konoha wild life including that bees of every stripe love of peaches.

From then on the angry swarms proved to be an effective deterrent to trespassers and a very useful way of training young Aburames how to interact with unfriendly hives. Shikuro vividly remembers coming home with armfuls of peaches and an equal amount of puffy red stings. The smell of peaches still makes him nauseous.

Shikuro is very insistent about calling people by their proper names or titles even if he doesn’t necessarily like them. He also avoids using nicknames whenever possible.

“We are here to buy..UGH…To buy flowers, not toys,” grumbled Shikuro as he tried to restrain the five year old. But Muta just continued to squirm.

Where was the scrub when you needed him.

Shikuro glances down at the child (who’s clearly transfixed by the bundle in his arms). “This is Torune, your younger cousin.” He explains in a low whisper. He doesn’t want to wake the newborn, but tilts the blankets so Muta can catch a glimpse of the dark haired baby. “He’s still fragile so no touching. Understand?”
