I'm currently thinking about a scenario in which Bones saves everyone by staying aboard a ship that's going to explode, a lot like Jim's father and the last thing he tells the bridge and jim is that he shouldn't be worried because Bones will be back
and then the ship explodes
and jim cries and all and the next scene is how something falls from the sky and lands on a planet, making a huge hole
and then a totally damaged, bleeing, broken bones, open flesh wounds McCoy walks out of the sinkhole, his injuries healing quickly and the villagers from the city come to the sinkhole and Bones keeps walking, his bones healing, skin closing within seconds
yeah.. some mysterious mutant!Bones thing

like, Jim decided to stay on the ship because of the whole "I'm the captain" thing even if it's not the Enterprise which explodes and Spock is already in the escape capsule and Jim takes Bones wrists and says: "Bones, I-" but Bones interrupts him by kissing him deeply, both hands on Jim's head and then he ends the kiss, saying: "I know, Jim. Me too." and Bones kisses Jim again and suddenly shoves Jim into the escape capsule, closing it quickly so that Jim isn't the one staying on the ship to get them enough time to escape... And Jim punches the thick glass wall which now separates Bones and him and Bones smiles at Jim before turning away to get back on the bridge
and Bones sits down on the captain's chair, calling the Enterprise and the escape capsule and says: "This is doctor McCoy..." silence from the Enterprise, "Jim and Spock are safe; get them and bring the back home, Enterprise." and then: "Goddammit, I hate space." and he breathes hard and Jim cries but he just can hear Bones,
"Jim, don't cry. I love you. I won't die here, I won't leave you, I promised you that. I will be back. Jim. I WILL BE BACK. Believe me that one time; I will find a way to come back to you and Spock and our ship." and then the ship explodes and Bones is cut off.
and silence on the Enterprise and inside the safety capsule.
and then Bones falls from the sky onto a planet and he asks one of the villagers if there's a Starfleet base on this planet and the guy nods
and Bones gets into the village, into a grocery store, drinking water and eating sandwichs before even paying for them but then he goes to the checkout and pays via his datas, don't ask me how, just imagine it works somehow with numbers or so and he pays
and then next scene:
jim and spock and the Enterprise crew are standing in a room with admirals who wait for jim to sign the document that Bones is officially dead but Jim hesitates
they all wear their grey uniforms
and it's completely silent and Jim puts the pencil on the paper when suddenly the doors burst open and a cate gtes in, panting, saying: "Sir, there is someone in the front hall who says he is... He says he's Doctor McCoy."
and Jim looks at Spock and Spock back at him and they all run to the front hall and-
"GODDAMMIT, I'm not dead!"
and then Jim walks up to Bones, looking shocked and reaches out for Bones, putting his hand on Bones face, like: "...Bones..?" and Bones smiles: "Yeah, it's me kid."
and happy hugging and kissing
and next scene is in which the bridge crew and Bones are in a room, sitting around a table and Bones telling them about his mutation, that he can't really get hurt physically and die of injuries or sickness
