Mutant Beat Dance - s/t (2018) Birthday breakfast tunes, no work today. I’ll copy what I said last time I posted this album (with far better pictures of this beautiful package): This is quite frankly the most impressive listening experience I’ve had this year (2018). Two and a half glorious hours of analog synth vibes blending minimal synth/wave, acid & Chicago house, and industrial. It’s dark, it’s fun, it’s serious, it’s funky—it’s everything. It’s got vocal samples that bring me back to that early house and industrial aesthetic. I’m just in awe of how they’ve blended these genres and moods so flawlessly over 25 new tracks on a debut LP (following some singles and EPs over the last decade).
