No matter if they copy it scene for scene, the American “Shame” will never be is good as Skam. Because the success of Skam is not just the writing, the storyline or the format. Skam is Tarjei, Henrik, Iman, Cengiz, Lisa, Marlon, Josefine, Ulrikke, Ina, David, Sacha, Simo, Mutta, Yousef & Adam. Yes, Even’s dialogue last season was excellent, but it was Henrik who made it heartbreaking. Yes, Isak was written as an in-depth, complex character, but it was Tarjei’s performance that Gullruten broke their own rules for, to nominate him for Best Actor. Yes, Julie wrote Sana as a character full of love, but it was Iman who made us fall in love with her. Skam is writing, format, storyline, heart.... but it is also these kids. Without these kids, Skam is simply a shell.

Ballon Squad Headcanon

How they met:

Mutta and Adam have known each other since they were kids, their parents have been friends since before they were born, and they were neighbours back in their country.

Elias and Mikael have been friends since kindergarten, their moms became friends when they had to pick them up every day.  They bring them to the park where they play football with Elias’s siblings.

Yousef and Even met in middle school. They became friends because their names were near each other in the alphabetical order, so they were always sitting together. Everyone liked them.

When they all went to Elevebakken, Mikael and Even met in media class and instantly bonded over their shared passion of movies.

Elias has classes with Adam and Mutta, but they officially met at tryouts for the football team. They bonded over their love for football, even though none of them made it to the team.

One time Even made plans to lunch with Mikael and brought Yousef along. Elias was with Adam and joined them. Then Mutta, who was running late because he got lost in the school, spotted them from afar and joined.

Boys being boys, they all became friends very easily, talking about sports, music, video games and girls.

They realized they were actually in a lot of classes together and were all secretly relieved to have made some new friends, because they didn’t want to be the ones left alone in group projects.

A few weeks later, that’s when they all started hanging at Elias’s place together.

They had all their high school experiences together, and talked about everything. First joint(Even brought it), first kiss (Elias had it, soon followed by Adam), first time (surprisingly Mutta), first girlfriend (Even with Sonja), first crush (Yousef with Sana), first fight (Mikael and Yousef didn’t talk for a week over some stupid political thing), first drink (At a party Even drank with Mutta and Elias, but only he got drunk, making Sonja really mad), fisrt break up (Elias broke up with some chick he dated for a month),etc.

They’re the classic Arabic boys, so they just hug and kiss each other on the cheek and don’t care who sees and thinks and cares. They’re the definition of bromance.

They were all in a Russ bus together, with a bunch of other boys they liked to hang out with. (Even ended up not being with them, but he was supposed to be.)

They all went to Jamilla and Elias’s brother’s wedding.

All of their parents treat them like family but they get annoyed when they spend all day inside doing nothing productive, so they kick them out.

Sometimes, when they get kicked out of someone’s house, they go to someone else’s only to be kicked out again, because the parents call each other.

They know what cover story to use with every family.

The idea of a Youtube channel was Mikael and Even’s  and they convinced the other boys after a month of arguing. It only got delayed because of Even’s thing.

They all love each other and would do anything to protect each other.
