Via @berkeleycitycollege_art Wishing everyone a happy #indigenouspeoplesday ! We’re loving the makeover that our neighborhood got this summer. The “Ohlone Territory” mural was painted on Center Street in June, after being unanimously approved by Berkeley‘s City Council. #EthnicStudies at @berkeleycitycollege #BerkeleyCityCollege Land Acknowledgement: The #MuwekmaOhlone have lived in the SF Bay Area since the beginning of time. Berkeley City College, what is presently the city of Berkeley, and the Peralta Community College District, are located upon land that was, is, and will be again #Muwekma #Ohlone land. We collectively acknowledge that Berkeley City College occupies the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary land of the Muwekma Ohlone people. We recognize, support, and advocate for the sovereignty of Indian nations, for historic Indigenous communities, for Indigenous individuals and communities who live here now, and for those who were forcibly removed from their Homelands. By offering this Land Acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty and will work towards continuing decolonial struggles through our educational practices. #ohloneland #ohloneterritory #berkeleycitycollege 📷 Paul Buddenhagen / Berkeleyside (at Berkeley, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGQXVbmBIF8/?igshid=16iowzhve45n8
