Ehh idk everything like I would read it but you see I have like zero freetime SOO.. like where would you recommend I read from? And idk if you have time like explain everything i should know, like are they berry? Why are their skins different colors? Where are they from? Why are they immortal, I think idk maybe you posted something about them being immortal. But yea things like that, or things that newbies should know
haha maybe i’ll make a beginner’s guide this weekend while mr. madi is off on his bachelor trip ;)
in the meantime, your questions are answered below the cut!
(THIS GOT WAY LONGER THAN I MEANT IT TO AND I’M SO SORRY)
are they berry?
short answer - no, not really. see below.
(i will generally refer to them in text posts and tags as berry sweets/vanilla sims to differentiate them from each other, mostly just because i don’t have an alternative term for them)
why are their skins different colors?
longer answer to the above question - they’re all most of them are from a story i wrote many moons ago while i was in high school that was called malignant virtues and was about angels and demons. (buck and jacob are from a different story i wrote while i was in high school.)
all the demons in the story had really brightly-colored skin, and originally their colors were supposed to correspond to their ‘patron sin’ that ruled them, but that particular point got dropped. the colors stuck, but the sins didn’t. the “vanilla” sims correspond to humans from the original story (and in the case of adia, dil, and gabe, a few angels).
where are they from?
so, originally, they’re from ~the underworld~. in the sims universe, they’re from nowhere in particular. they just happen to co-exist as immortal, berry-colored sims with mortal, vanilla-colored sims.
why are they immortal?
the short answer to why they’re immortal -- because i wanted them to be. taz has always been one of my favorites, and i just couldn’t bring myself to let him get old and die in the sim world; and i figured, hey, the demons in the original story were immortal, why not make them immortal here, too?
unfortunately, i goofed up when i originally made adia as a sim. i made her based on her appearance in the original story -- which is to say, no pointed ears, nothing to differentiate her from humans -- but i knew i wanted the human characters to get older and eventually die from old age. because adia was “human” (read: vanilla), she fell into this category, too. i considered making dil a berry sweet sim so that, as an angel, he would be immortal -- but i wanted to be consistent and make all the angels the same, so he wound up mortal.
obviously i threw this out the window with charity and temperance -- so who knows what’ll happen going forward.
where you should read from
it depends on which storyline you’re most interested in; it’s midnight here and i have to be at work by 7, so i apologize for not providing better links/directions to appropriate places in the story.
HERE is a horribly out of date timeline of events, for general reference purposes; it’s kind of a mess and hasn’t been updated in a while. the years are dated as BMV/MV (think BCE/CE format), and some of the events listed aren’t actually in the story itself (e.g., buck’s first engagement), or get really, really specific (e.g., the delaforte twins’ birthday party in 26 MV)
BUT, as for where to start reading in the actual story--
gretta+taz’s story starts at the beginningthis includes taz’s affair with adia, gretta’s pregnancy, and adia’s marriage to jason
cadence/nick’s romance starts at gen 2pretty standard fluffy romance, and pretty much exclusively gen 2taz and adia also rekindle their love affair in this generation, and adia leaves her husband
avarice (nick’s mom) comes in near the end of gen 2 (no specific link, sorry)this is what starts the events that lead up to gen 3′s uncomfortably high body count
sona and adi start at gen 3this includes sona becoming a rockstar, meeting/touring with buck, their affair, and the start of their familyit also includes adi’s corruption by avarice, her tryst with jacob, her (attempted) rebellion against her grandmother, and her death
taz and gretta (where we are now) is still gen 3 (no specific link, sorry)this includes adia’s death, taz’s relationship with charity, and brings us to where we are now
wow okay this all got a lot longer than i meant it to -- yikes! i hope that answered your questions and wasn’t super overwhelming with information overload. i’m off to bed for tonight, but feel free to shoot me any other questions any time!
CHECK OUT THIS (not-so-)FANCY NEW TIMELINE FOR MV LEGACY
Spent the last four hours figuring out the actual timeline for MV Legacy because obviously all of you lovely people care about it as much as I do. All those numbers off to the side? Those were links to the corresponding posts for each event. 300+ links, and not a single one of them saved. Super pissed, but I’ll fix it another day. Anyway, a few notes --
The timeline is split into “BMV” and “MV” years. Basically, they work like BC/BCE and AD/CE respectively, with year 0 MV being the stasis for the beginning of the legacy. So if Taz was born in 24 BMV, he’s 24 when the legacy starts. (Related: holy shit everyone grew up fast; we’re at 26 MV currently and everyone’s nearly 50, but in my head they’re all still like... 33.)
For the years with a lot going on (4 MV; 12 MV; 21 MV), I may go back and add specific months that events happen just for further clarity. I haven’t decided yet. Right now I’m still pissed about all the links not saving, so I’m leaving it as-is for now.
The timeline gets a little wonky around the middle with the twins’ ages. I wasn’t keeping track of how much time was actually passing at the time. I kind of said, “Well, Cadence needs to be X age here,” and went with it, and arbitrarily aged up the other kids around her. So the Malory twins become teenagers when they’re actually 9, and the Delaforte twins become children when they’re like, 2. But who’s counting? Evidently not me.
My post earlier today about Envy and Nick totally having sex is completely null and void. There was no way I could tweak the timeline enough for it to work. I’m real sad about it.
