CHECK OUT THIS (not-so-)FANCY NEW TIMELINE FOR MV LEGACY

Spent the last four hours figuring out the actual timeline for MV Legacy because obviously all of you lovely people care about it as much as I do. All those numbers off to the side? Those were links to the corresponding posts for each event. 300+ links, and not a single one of them saved. Super pissed, but I’ll fix it another day. Anyway, a few notes --

The timeline is split into “BMV” and “MV” years. Basically, they work like BC/BCE and AD/CE respectively, with year 0 MV being the stasis for the beginning of the legacy. So if Taz was born in 24 BMV, he’s 24 when the legacy starts. (Related: holy shit everyone grew up fast; we’re at 26 MV currently and everyone’s nearly 50, but in my head they’re all still like... 33.)

For the years with a lot going on (4 MV; 12 MV; 21 MV), I may go back and add specific months that events happen just for further clarity. I haven’t decided yet. Right now I’m still pissed about all the links not saving, so I’m leaving it as-is for now.

The timeline gets a little wonky around the middle with the twins’ ages. I wasn’t keeping track of how much time was actually passing at the time. I kind of said, “Well, Cadence needs to be X age here,” and went with it, and arbitrarily aged up the other kids around her. So the Malory twins become teenagers when they’re actually 9, and the Delaforte twins become children when they’re like, 2. But who’s counting? Evidently not me.

My post earlier today about Envy and Nick totally having sex is completely null and void. There was no way I could tweak the timeline enough for it to work. I’m real sad about it.

MV ramblings

enjoy today’s queue as the heiress of the dekresh family continues to uphold her father’s legacy and make questionable choices

lots of run-on sentences and backstory that never got explored below the cut. ye be warned;

UPDATE - literally all of this backstory is irrelevant because i actually figured out the timeline and none of it works but it’s a nice AU i think

there’s a nick/envy scene queued for this weekend and it kills me because envy is like ridiculous and i wish i’d made her a bigger part of everything as a whole and explored her relationship with nick more, because they were friends before she ever met sforz like way back in high school when she was the sexy head cheerleader and he was some lowly (albeit good-looking) freshman band nerd, probably, and they may or may not have had casual no-strings-attached sex a time or two or ten just because she wanted to spite her actual boyfriend and he was into it because hello, hot varsity cheerleading captain, and then she graduated and they went their separate ways but remained friends and then she met sforz and here we are today

(originally she was the first one to find taz after his fall to the underworld and she was the one who pointed him to sforz because she felt bad for him because he was so pathetic like a little baby bird with a broken wing and she knew sforz was a genuinely good guy who’d take care of him, and she knew literally everyone and everything about everyone and was a huge gossip because she was one of nick’s side bitches because he was the prince of the underworld and a total playboy)

anyway long story short envy got shafted and i’m real sad about it

i also woke up in the middle of the night with an idea for a cadence/taz scene that i want to squeeze in before tomorrow’s queue but i have to go to work now so oops buuuut i have until like 7 pm tomorrow to get it done and queued but tomorrow’s saturday so football ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was tagged by the lovely and wonderful @echoweaver​, so here it goes below the cut~

I want a short bio! How old are you? Where do you live? Anything else fun to share? I’m a 24-year-old behavior analyst working with adolescents and young adults with developmental disabilities! I grew up kind of everywhere (12 years in Arkansas, 6 years in Florida, 5 years in Alabama for college/grad school, spent a year in Virginia on a fellowship), but now I’m back in Alabama with my wonderful fiancé, our Rottweiler mix, and my 13-pound cat.

Why do you keep a simblr? What’s the best thing you get out of it? I keep a simblr because I like sharing my stories. I’ve always had kind of head-canon-y stories about what’s happening in my game, but one day I said you know what, I’m gonna put this on the internet. Behavioral explanation: My Sims-playing/writing behavior is also really reinforced by likes and comments and such and the simblr community provides a much denser schedule of reinforcement than the fanfiction/AO3 community so I allocate more responding to simming these days.

What is the most interesting thing about Sims to you? Do you build, create sims, tell stories, design fashion, etc? I like telling stories, mostly. :) I’ve always been horrible at building/decorating homes, and I wish I was better at it.

Do you have another Sims community you hang out on other than Tumblr? What’s your favorite? Nope.

To Maxis Match or not to Maxis Match? Why? Maxis Match all the way~ I had a few things in TS3 that weren’t Maxis Match-y, but I always hated that they didn’t blend in with everything else. I love the aesthetic of TS4, so definitely Maxis Match everything.

What is your favorite sim you’ve ever played? Tell us about them. I don’t know that I have a single favorite sim I’ve ever played. I did really enjoy my Simselodeon crew (specifically Kimi), but that save file got corrupted (twice!) before I got very far, so I finally gave up on it. Out of my current legacy -- Cadence is probably my favorite currently.

Do you mod? If so, what’s the one mod you couldn’t live without? If you play Sims 3 and use NRaas, let’s just say the non-NRaas mod you couldn’t live without.) For TS3 - Mostly NRaas, but I have a few tweak-y mods just for small things. No Zombies, no autonomous memories, Cancel Time Off (because I got tired of female sims having like 84 days of maternity leave and never getting promoted), and Supernatural Babies so there’s a chance of occults being born on the full moon For TS4 - DISABLE AUTONOMOUS MOURNING, and MasterController, but MC’s story progression is not nearly as good as NRaas’s.

Who is in charge? You or your sims? Me. Absolutely me. I did try a Wishacy Challenge once to try to be a little more hands-off, and that was kind of fun. But I ended up losing the save file around the same time Simselodeon corrupted.

Do you have a favorite challenge? I’ve always wanted to give the apocalypse challenge a shot. I’ve tried perfect genetics a few times but I always make my heir requirements too strict and get bored before I get an heir.

Do you use poses? Why or why not? Yessssss because sometimes you just need poses that the game doesn’t already have. I’d really like to learn to make my own poses, because I can usually make do with what I can find, but there’s usually one little thing that’s kind of off -- weird facial expression, hand not in the place I want it. That said, poses in TS3 were so much easier to use than poses in TS4. I really hate that you can’t pick up sims and move them in TS4, and sometimes (depending on the pose pack) either the pose or the teleporter just don’t quite put my sims exactly where I want them.

How much of the Sims do you own? Do you buy each expansion and pack as it’s released? Do you stick to base game? How do you decide what you need? Way back in the day, I had all the TS1 expansions except Hot Date (and maybe Living Large? I don’t remember that one). Makin’ Magic was objectively the best one, though. When TS2 was a thing, I had most of the EPs, but no stuff packs. Apartment Life and Open for Business were my faves. When TS3 came out, I was a broke college student, so I only bought Ambitions and Supernatural. With TS4, I bought Get to Work and Dine Out as soon as they came out, and I finally broke down and bought Outdoor Retreat and Get Together. Generally, I don’t end up using most of the features in the EPs, so I try to be picky about buying only the things that I know I’ll use. I really like supernatural/occult sims, so that’s an EP I’ll always buy, but I’m not overly attached to any others.

Came up with a heartbreaking solution to my immortality vs aging up dilemma on my way to work this morning but of course I'm on mobile and can't stick it under a read more

i’m getting to a point in my queue that i have to decide what to do with Gen 1 of MVlegacy before i go too much further

do i keep them immortal and just shift the focus to the newer generation so they can make the occasional cameo appearance, or do i age them up and let them (eventually) die of old age

there’s really no reason to keep them immortal but i also don’t want to see them die off and i really hate adult sims for whatever reason so i’ve kept them as YA (so honestly they’d probably go straight from YA to elder if i aged them up)

i just don’t knowwwwww because i don’t want my babies to die :(

i’ll probably end up aging them up but i’m not coping very well with that rn tbh
