I only went to two Melbourne Writers Festival events this year (living in the country makes these things difficult), and they just happened to both be events involving the one and only Rob Thomas (no, not that Rob Thomas – the other one) – ‘Rob Thomas: Veronica Mars to iZombie’ and ‘Veronica Mars: The Pilot’. This year, I’m part of VU’s reviewing team for the Melbourne Writers Festival. Over the weekend I was sent off to attend an event called ‘Writing For a Cause’ which discussed the intersectionality of disability, feminism and queer issues, and what it means to write about those particular issues.
Here’s the review I wrote. It’d be great if you could have a read, or whatever. It was a great event, but one that I was quite nervous to write about, considering the subject matter. But I think I did a good job. Clementine Ford (who was part of the event) messaged me on Twitter after reading the article and said I’m—and I quote—‘a good writer’, which was nice and encouraging.
