"Your hands can hold on to many things, Jonah. Don't let rage be one of them. Anger is a powerful thing, but it's dangerous to let the sun go down on it.
"Vengeance is mine; I will repay. All will be well."

"Your hands can hold on to many things, Jonah. Don't let rage be one of them. Anger is a powerful thing, but it's dangerous to let the sun go down on it.
"Vengeance is mine; I will repay. All will be well."
(Preface: I don't have the energy to draw a big ol' comic, but since I'm feeling pretty shitty right now, I'd at least like to write something as Wander and see if we can find something hopeful in all this.)
---
(You're sitting on your front porch as the sun sets over the horizon, finding it hard to get up or take your eyes off your smartphone, when a familiar face wanders along and sits across from you.)
"Mind if I join ya? I thought I'd drop by to see you- oh my stars and garters, it's been forever and a half! How're ya doin'? Nice weather, ain't it?
"Oh? Did I come at a bad time?
"World not lookin' so great?
...
"Oh.
I'm sorry."
(His bouncy demeanor mellows out considerably, and he speaks in a surprisingly level-headed, if rambly, tone.)
"Your Earth-planet does tend to be kinda silly. People convinced they hafta have their way, all these wars and people fightin'... I mean, we have problems in space too, but the way you humans just get so passionate. Like you've forgotten the sun's shining.
"The thing is, Earthlings don't live as long as us. To you, it feels like your world is ending, don't it?
...Let me get level with ya."
(Wander takes his hat off and holds it in his hands, fiddling with the brim. He looks like he's reliving something behind those blue eyes- green eyes? It's hard to tell.)
"I know what it's like to be helpless. To feel like the sun ain't shinin'. I spent a long time just moping around, convinced the universe was bad."
(Wander laughs wistfully. You lean in closer to your friend, encouraging him to continue.)
"Somehow I got out of my own head. I started lendin' a hand wherever I could. And d'ya know what I realized?
People are kind. People are good. Not everybody's a hero, of course, but I can be, and you can be, and we can be heroes together."
(He's tearing up.)
"But you gotta promise me somethin', okay friend? Stay. Stay here. I'll always be helping somewhere, and you can call me if you ever need me, but I need you to stay.
There's a lotta good on Earth-planet. Take care of it."

Another update
Hello, everyone. Long update below. Click "keep reading" to see the whole thing.
My mental health's worse than before... I've lost most of my motivation for creativity, and as such, have grown very inactive on this blog. I had intended to get on a regular posting interval on here and AO3 by July of this year, but then, a bunch of bad stuff happened, one thing after the other. I can't explain everything that happened, unfortunately, as a lot of it is confidential, but just know that I've been struggling a lot.
And now, for something completely different!

Those who claim to be older and wiser than us beckon us to the altar, luring us into comfort over the sedation of Scripture then thrusting a scalpel into our hands.
"Confess," they say.
And we plunge it into our skin.
A dissection of our core. A soul-strangling. A self-amputation of the beautiful parts we were taught to see as infected, and dirty, and wrong.
The procedure is unnatural at first. But we learn how to separate harmful from holy, tumor from testament.
The bloodstains in the sanctuary, absorbed by antiquated rugs and rough fabrics, pooling around floorboards and dripping from the ceiling, were tested for DNA and found not to be from Jesus.
He may have died on the cross, but we're the ones bleeding ourselves dry.
After all, more of him and less of us.
