Maze || Solo
This maze was madness. How the fuck was he supposed to get out of here, and on his own to boot? Then again, he’d been on his own for a long time, why was this any different? Each step brought him closer to the end and damn did he want the end. With a sigh, he turned another corner and settled against the wall, panting. How long had he been walking? Too long if his sore feet were anything to go on.
A sudden noise drew his attention and he was back to standing in less than a second. Of course there had to be monsters. What sort of maze would this be without them? While he normally would have preferred to stay and play with them, now was the time to leave and he sprinted along, not caring which way he turned, until the ground fell out underneath his feet.
His body felt more than his eyes saw the collapse but after a quick scramble, hands clawing at the solid ground around the lip of the ditch, he managed to pull himself free. Shit. Why did this sort of thing keep happening? That was the third pit trap he had found in the last- how long had he been here again? Oh fuck it. What was the use of trying to calculate time?
Another roar brought him out of his thoughts as he turned slowly. Damn, damn, damn. The chimera loomed over the small faery, teeth bared and tail fangs snapping. It lunged for the faery as he jumped away, landing and nearly losing his balance instantly. Through his body, he could feel the magic returning. Thank the non-existent gods! However, before he could decide on a course of action, the chimera’s snake tail was at his heels, biting with fangs dripping venom. Nope, nope, nope. He was not going to die in some shit hole of maze concocted by a monarch who’s brain, in Takeshi’s opinion, had turned to mush long ago.
Corner after corner was passed as the monster chased him, swiping with claws sharp enough to cut bone like butter. This running was getting him nowhere. Skidding to a stop, the wondered vaguely if this was something he was born to do, face things people told him to flee from, screw the consequences. A ball of light formed in his hand, nothing fancy, but bright, brighter than a the lights of a baseball stadium.
The spark sent the beast howling, holding its paws over blinded eyes at it dashed away. Takeshi slumped, leaning against the nearest hedge. Shit, that had been harder than he had expected, not that he would ever admit such a thing to anyone else. Slowly, he pushed himself up and continued walking, glancing around for anything that would indicate an out.
Then there it was. Beautiful as the fires he’d tried to rain down on his own people. With hesitation tossed to the wind, he dashed toward the end of the maze.
