The @docomomous National Symposium is finally pau. After a year of planning, meetings, and coordination, our four long days of lectures, events and tours came to a close. It was a lot of work, but when you’re spending the week in some of the best architecture on the island, it’s hard not to take time to smell the flowers. But none of it would have been possible without the best team of volunteers and Modernism enthusiasts. There’s way to many individuals to thank, and I’m personally indebted to many who came and helped. I’ll repay your kindness one day, but know that I’m grateful to all of you for this past week. Each day of the Ossipoff Tours this past week had an additional stop. One day we stopped at Bachman Hall, one day the Pacific Club, and one day the Goodsill House. But what was also a great stop for us was the Ossipoff Documents at Hamilton Library every day and getting to see the old drawings and renderings. For three days of the National @docomomous Symposium, @timothyaschuler @hawaii_modern and I led “Ossipoff Tours” around the city visiting various houses and buildings designed by Vladimir Ossipoff. These tours were some of the first to sell out, and I’m indebted to John and Tim for coming in and being docents/guides/van drivers all three days. Hard to find people that can literally do it all and not hate me for asking them by the end. Also, couldn’t thank my most favorite place and group enough, @liljestrand_house for hosting tours at their place all three days. They provided docents and kept everyone’s spirits up everyday. It was a great last stop of the tour each day watching the sun set over the view. .
