something was wrong. that much was clear to him by the look on her face. but, he really knew that there was something going on when she chose to ignore his flirtations with the man at the bar in front of him. that probably seemed conceited. but, typically, the brunette did anything that she could in her power to ruin his night--especially when it involved taking someone else home. shock crossed his features though he tried to disguise it. it would have been so much easier for him to just continue on with his current conversation. he could have just ignored the solemn look on the woman’s face and had a much better night. but, fuck. he couldn’t ignore it, could he? the one night when marlene wasn’t even trying to capture his attention was the one night that she fully had it. figures. he pinched the bridge of his nose in irritation and gave a deep sigh.
“ fuck--i’m sorry. and i get the feeling that i am really going to regret this, but uh, got a friend that i need to check in on, “ he explained suddenly to the man. then, a nod of his head, “ raincheck, yeah? “ standing up from the bar stool, he breathed in a heavy sigh as he began to walk over to where marlene sat by herself. stuffing his hands in his pockets, he tried to think to himself how best to open up the conversation. but, in the end, it seemed that his tendency to simply have no bullshit won over. “ what’s goin’ on, mckinnon? yer not tryin’ to cockblock me for once, “ he pointed out, “ ya sick or somethin’? “
