I’m not saying step back completely. I’m saying make sure you take care of yourself too.

That’s not a plus woman that’s bad. You CANNOT throw your own mental and physical health out the window when someone else is concerned. I KNOW you want to be there for your friend, but you HAVE to take care of yourself too. You. Are. Important.
No-one else is there for her. I’m not comfortable stepping back knowing no-one is there to help her. It doesn’t feel right.

take. a. break.
One of the reasons I wasn’t was because I was worried for my suicidal friend, but pretty sure I came on too late today anyway so eh.
I’ve stressed so much I don’t think I have feelings anymore, so that’s a plus.

Taste in music - Mischa/Marya prefers instrumentals that are calm and soothing – dark music enters her head and refuses to leave. She reacts negatively to anything that’s too discordant (could be rock, could be traditional Hungarian fiddling – if it’s shrill, it makes her bristle like a cat). As far as provenance is concerned, she’s not snooty, and has soundtracks by Patrick Doyle and Jean-Yves Thibaudet on rotation with the usual Mozart and Bach. Her favorite piece is, naturally, “The Swan” by Camille Saint-Saëns.
Taste in literature - In contrast, Mischa/Marya prefers sweeping, operatic novels – everything from Nabokov and Tolstoy to offerings like “The Remains of the Day” by Kazuo Ishiguro. If she’s not misty-eyed, the words aren’t doing their job. She prefers to purge her emotions via reading. She reads far more non-fiction than fiction, however, and tends to devour popular social science books.
