Here’s the thing about drawing lines with generational discourse.... it’ll never be right if you do it by years. Because there will always be a difference in where you’re from, what your family background is, just how much money you have... it makes much more sense to put put it into simple categories.
Like, to me Gen Z was always “people who have had access to the internet all their Iives” and even though I was born in 1998, that just doesn’t apply to me AT ALL. I think I was 9 or 10 when we first had internet installed in our home? I remember listening to cassette tapes in the car and cleaning the mouse ball with nail polish remover and the static of the TV and having to rewind VHS tapes before being able to watch them. How is that gen Z?
But I’m sure that rich kids who were born in a different country in 98 might have a different experience from me, y’know? So idk what I am, but I’m definitely not Gen Z 😂 (sorry for going off like that but your tags just made me have to get this out)
Sorry for answering this... about a month late, but you are correct! There is definitely more to it than just strict norm from-to.
Also I was born the same year and I have the same memories, honestly. In fact we still have VHS (home videos mostly, we let go of my fave Peter Pan ages ago) and we still listen to cassettes from time to time, because we still own the old radio. Hell, we still own floppy disks as well, gen Z couldn't relate qhshejek
