When his reluctant revelation was met with silence, Spike turned to look at Buffy, seeing that she had a hand clasped over her mouth, struggling to keep herself from laughing. The mortified look on Spike’s face, however, was the proverbial last straw and with a first strangled noise she burst into a fit of laughter.

Rolling his eyes, Spike grabbed his phone and walked out on the porch to make the call, while Buffy huddled up under a cozy blanket and nestled into the plush cushions of the couch as the flickering flames of the fireplace cast a warm glow across the room. “Dowling says the blackout affected most of the East Bay,” said Spike, walking back inside. Then he tossed his phone on the coffee table and snuggled up to Buffy.
